    Speak True, Ch. 1

    Chapter One

She had to run, she had to get out of there.  The emotions of discovering that her wife of 7 years had been unfaithful made it just to hard to stay.  As much as she wanted to stay, as much as she wanted to pound her fists and scream “Why?!?!” over and over again, she knew that no answer would be enough to dull the pain.  So, she left.  Into the night, just driving.  She was numb.  She was shocked.  All she knew was that she wanted to run, run from that house, that person, that feeling.  Her life was over, at least her life as she knew it.  Her dreams were all lost.  The dream of having a child.  The dream of growing old together.  After hours of driving she knew that sooner or later she would have to choose a destination.  Tina pulled to the side of the road and reached for her cell phone.

     “Alice?”

“Yes.  Tina?  Are you ok?  You sound upset.”

“Bette and I..”  was all that came out through the sobbing.

     “Yeah, Bette and you..what?!?”

    “Alice, Can I come over?”

    “Tina, it’s 3 am.”

“I know, but I really need someone and somewhere to stay tonight.  Please?”

Hearing the urgency and emotion in Tina’s voice, Alice replied, “Yeah, sure T.  I’ll be waiting.”

“Thank you.  I’ll tell you the whole story then”

Bette didn’t know what to do with herself.  The biggest mistake of her life had just been revealed.  Her wife had stormed out.   Should she call her, should she follow her, should she TRY to get her to listenand if she did?  Would it matter?

Sitting on the bed with her head in her hands sobbing uncontrollably, she heard the phone ring.  She just let it ring, the machine would get it.

Alice’s voice came through the speaker 2 rings later:

“Bette? Bette? What is going on?  Tina called here an hour ago and said she was on her way to my apartment.  Something about the two of you?  She hasn’t arrived yet, I’m starting to really worry.  What the ***** happened over there tonight?  CALL ME!”

Through her sobs Bette couldn’t think.  She slowly pealed her clothes off and stepped into a hot shower.  Banging her fists on the wall, all she could do was cry.  Cry for the regret she was feeling, cry for the losses, cry for the dream that had died when Tina walked out the door that night.

    1. Definitly different. But if she doesn’t remember, doesn’t mean that Alice doesn’t know, or that her memory won’t come back. Regardless Bette should still make it right. Thank you sooooooooo much for keeping Tina alive and well.

    2. Different ,Maybe a new start for them, without the affair, Maybe Bette will change and when Tina gets her memory back ,it will all be behin themm… THANKS

    3. Be still be heart. You got me with this one: “Actually ma’am, I’m sorry to tell you that Tina was involved in a car accident last night and well……”

Whew! Thank God she is still alive. Now, let the madness begin.

    4. So, does Bette tell Tina the truth about why she was driving around at 3:00 in the morning, or let it be? Very good question…looking forward to reading the answer!! Thanks!
