Closing the door to her home she sat down her briefcase on the side table and proceeded to her bedroom, kicked off her shoes, and pulled out her comfort clothes. Having changed she now headed to the kitchen for a cup of tea. Finally, settling back on the sofa with the case file she began to read the history of Bette Porter’s life for the last five and a half years.

Bette had been in and out of jail many times over the years but each time upon her release she resumed her addiction habits. Two years ago she had been picked up in a park in New York for being under the influence but once she was taken to the station to be booked it was discovered by a female police officer that she had been sexually assaulted. She was take from the jail to the hospital for medical treatment however in her current state Bette could not give them much information on who raped her. The evidence collected in the rape kit revealed they had collected three different DNA samples thus; Bette had been assaulted by three different men that night. No one was ever arrested for the sexual assault against Bette.

During previous attempts to treat her addictions Bette had hours and hours of counseling, yet none of the previous doctors had been able to reach her. Tina wondered if this was because of Bette’s ability to shut down. She remembered how Bette would shut down on her when they were in the middle of an argument or Tina would push for an answer to a question that Bette felt was to hard to respond to.

Tina had always known that part of the reason Bette had trouble opening up to someone was due to issues in her childhood shit, Tina could understand that look at her own relationship with her family after all these years it was still broken. Although she had never lived with another woman since Bette she still continued to have the occasional one night stand with different women. Also, she had continued to insist that her sexual orientation was for same sex relationships to her family even after they became aware of the break up with Bette.
