Chapter 5
Bette pulled up in front of The Planet and shook her head at the already crowded bar. It seemed the night crowd came out earlier then ever before. She shut her engine off, grabbed her purse, and was greeted at the door by the sound of bass that she believed could technically blow someone’s eardrums. She waived politely to the bouncer that was perched at the door checking identification and denying access to those that weren’t of age.
Bette pushed her way inside and maneuvered her way to the counter. She leaned over it to talk to a member of Kit’s staff.
“Is she in?” she asked screaming.
“In the back,” the young man signaled with his head in case Bette couldn’t hear him.
Bette quickly made her way through the crowded bar, being bumped often and only occasionally apologized to, until she stood at Kit’s office door. She knocked and waited for Kit to acknowledge her by asking her to come in.
“Come on in,” Kit said loudly. She smiled when Bette walked through the door and got up to give her a hug. “To what do I owe this pleasure?”
“First, grace me with some aspirin will ya?” Bette began rubbing her head.
Kit walked back to her desk, pulled out a bottle, shook 2 pills in her hand, and met Bette halfway between her desk and the door. She handed her the pills along with her remaining Diet Coke so Bette had something to wash the medicine down with.
“How was the dinner?” Kit asked.
“Oh it came from here? I don’t know, I didn’t eat any.”
“Say what? What happened? I had the kitchen working overtime to prepare that for her!”
“It wasn’t her, it was me. I forgot about it so I didn’t get a chance to eat any of it.”
“So you haven’t eaten?” Kit asked raising her eyebrow.
“Nope.”
“Let me get you something from the kitchen then,” Kit walked to the door signaling a passing waitress that she needed assistance. Kit quickly ordered a sandwich and some pie telling the waitress to bring it into the office as soon as it was ready.
“I don’t need pie,” Bette said when Kit sat back down.
“Believe it or not, everything isn’t about you Bette. The pie is for me. At least one Porter eats around here.”

Oh man, this is heart wrenching. I can really feel all the emotions flying around. Although it is sad for Kristen, my Tibette heart prays that Bette and Tina will be together in the end. But I have the feeling that a lot drama will happen first.
I think Kristen is wise to see that she is not the great love of Bette’s life. And if she was wise, she would leave Bette before she endured further pain. Neither one wants to hurt the other, but what kind of a relationship does one have if they are not “in love” with the other?
I”m with STW… my Bettina heart is praying that they start moving towards each other very soon. they both need the happiness it will bring them… especially tina. pps!
Yeh The poor girl is sooooo going to get her heart broken, I think (I Hope). No disrespect Kristen but you are no Tina soooo do us all a favour and leave Bette to get back to her true Love, Wonderful chapter

It’s a great story gumby. Angelica is gonna have some fun digging, I am sure. We all hope that Bette ends things with Kristen to get with Tina. let’s hope it is as painless as possible… although breaking up is never completely painless. I am looking forward to the next chapter. Hope you have a good one. ness
I feel bad for Kristen, she seems like a nice chick. But for some strange reason I see her doing some grimey shit just to keep Bette. Bette is being ‘i’gnant,that’s right not ignorant, but “i’gnant” right now. I understand her fears but to disregard what she knows in her heart to be true that is coming out of her family’s mouth is just plain ole i’gnant. It’s not fair to Kristen and she needs to let her know, lay out the cards on the table. I would think that Bette would not be about foolishness at this stage in the game. Tina needs to lay it down as well but I understand the dilemma, so she just needs to get creative. Angie will be forcing them to face trucths whether they like it or not. And yes I will be there for Angie when the shit hits the fan because it will! Can’t wait to meet Helena? Is this the same one who hightailed it on a private jet to run away from the cops? LOL j/k! So will Bette break Kristen heart slow or fast?? lol urgh both are hidding behind the word ‘friendship’ its so frustrating!..only Angie to try to wake them up :P Post soon!!.
Breaking up is hard to do. I do believe that Kristen will do it all by herself. Each day she becomes more jealous of Tina,that will flow over to Angie also. She knew that Bette came as a package so after 7 mos she needs to forget Tina and Bette together because they have Angie to bond them forever. You can love someone without being in Love with them. Bette will always be in love with Tina.
Yes, it is SO “HEART BREAKING” for Kris, but my TiBette heart can only root for Bette and Tina to wake up and smell the coffee and see that being friends and co-parents is all well and good, even GREAT, But to be LOVERS, FRIENDS, and PARENTS is AWESOME!!!!! Love it. PPS!

Hey there Gumby, your spoiling us, with getting your chapters out so quick, not that I am complaining mind you, I think you are spot on with B & T, And it amazes me on how many of the fan fic stories, portray Bette & Tina to be more real. What is IC Thinking? Anyway, Rock on with your story.
Ah this is beautifully written. The emotions come through adequately and are not overdone. ->That’s important to my interest in a story *g*. Now what will Bette do? I’m excited to find out! Good update.
G…Now, you’re making me like Kristen and I don’t wanna. She’s being so honest, open and seemingly loving towards Bette but I wonder if it isn’t somewhat of an act. Bette is a “catch” in the lesbian community. Kristen knows that if she badmouths Angie then she’ll be out the door in a NY minute so she shows her jealousy of Tina. She’s never gonna replace Tina in Bette’s eyes and maybe not her life. Bette is being kind b/c I think she cares about Kristen but is not in love w/her. Certainly not in the way she is w/Tina. I don’t think anyone can replace Tina in Bette’s mind. T was her one true and first love. It’s hard to move on from there. I don’t think Bette has moved on emotionally just physically. Sometimes you just need that warm body next to you to know that you’re alive and can still feel something. A girl has her needs, ya know what I mean? But I also think that Kristen means more than a lay to Bette otherwise Bette wouldn’t be w/her for 8 mos. I like all the layers and subplots that you are developing in this story. I also enjoy reading how parents are parenting and helping their child get through some difficult and trying situations. That lesbian parents don’t parent in a differnt way than hetero parents. That’s a good role model. I was surprised that Angie didn’t ask Tina if a lesbian is a muff diver then what that specifically mean. But maybe Angie was too scared to ask. Whatever. overall, excellent writing. Two thumbs up, Gumbino.
it’s not that i don’t like kristen, it’s just everyone knows that bette isn’t moving on with her, i think maybe for bette it’s partly to have someone so she won’t be missing tina too much, to have an illusion that she moved on…i don’t know but i hope kristen will be the one to leave so angie can bring her moms together
My advice to Kristen….move on. Bette is going to break your heart and go back to her “true love.” I don’t think that Kristen should settle for second best in a relationship and neither should Bette. Bette needs to stop kidding herself…and try to make things work with Tina. I think Bette feels a sense of failure when it comes to letting Tina and Angelica down. She puts herself in the Melvin Porter category and I think she is far cry from her Dad. Great STORY!
The “crazy” part of my last comment was definitley meant to be positive! So, I’m still loving the story. I think you do a really great job at making things seem realistic. I felt kind of bad for Kristen. I can’t wait to see what you have in store for us!

There’s NEVER love lost between me and any woman who is (however temporarily) an obstacle to B&T! Ahem… anyway. I DO feel badly for Kristen, and she absolutely right; it would be worse for Bette to break her heart slowly. Very touching post, and it was interesting insight into what Kristen’s dealing with… perhaps it would just be easier to get rid of her… just a thought. I mean, she realizes she’s not Bette’s great love, and who really wants to play second fiddle to the person who is?

God I love this Fan Fic!!!! There are so many angles you are taking with this, and how you are able to capture all that emotion and everyone’s views is simply amazing!It goes without saying, that no matter what, Kristen engaged in a relationship with Bette knowing full well that she IS a parent. She has to know that no matter what, that child is a part of Bette in a way that Kristen will NEVER and I mean NEVER EVER be. She needs to either be able to handle that, and to really desire to be a part of Angelica’s life in a positive way, OR….she needs to hit the road. Now, if I were a parent, I would have to tell you that I would be so picky as to who I dated and brought into her life. I am sure that as I considered who I wanted, I would also be considering just how that person views my child, and how they would likely interact. I am not sure if Bette really put alot of thought into that or not. I don’t see where Kristen has even tried to encourage Bette, Angelica and herself to do things together. Okay..I know….it is ONLY the 5th chapter and I am asking for alot! LMAOOOOOO……I think that in time, Kristen is going to feel the love and passion that is still inside Bette for her love..Tina. I also think, that Angelica’s plan is going to prove to work…at a minimum, Bette and Tina will perhaps relive many of those special moments, and recapture all those wonderful feelings that they had shared at an earlier time in their lives. I know that whatever direction you take this, it will be done with the most excellent writing abilities ever. You just have that natural ability to write, and engage you readers. I hope that B&T will find the happiness in their lives no matter where that might be! Hugs and Kisses

ok as the parent of a child from a lesbian relationship where the parents have moved on…it is my sad and true experience that like children of het parents, the children just want mum and dad or mum and mum to be together cuz they remember or know instinctively that those were the happy days…and it’s very heartbreaking to deal with their pain and wanting you to get back together when you (the adults) realise thats not gonna be…and I feel for Kristen also, she loves Bette, Bette loves her BUT it will never be a B and T relationship…my experience is we only ever get ONE of those so Kristen best go find hers with that person whose waiting out there for her; even if B and T never reunite…they will always be the BEST THING that ever happened for them and Angel is the living proof…so BEST friends for them may be the best it gets…and thats better than nothing at all between them…loving the story…PPS

wow another great chapter! Bette should put in order her feelings she haven’t been moving for Tina and i think that is the reason because she is with another person, because if she was single she was triying to be with Tina, then she rather to be with someone else to hide her real feelings than handle the love she has for Tina and all of this is because their arrangements “to be friends”. Kirsten is right if Bette will broke her heart then she will make it fast. The sooner the better!
Hey Gumbi-Bear, How the heck are you? I’ve been a a bit of a lurker as started new job in Oct and personal time has been limited since then. As for this new terrific tale. I am loving it. AS always you have created a densely plotted and tight storyline. Moving these characters on in a natural and realistic manner is delicious. Bette and Tina are both doing the best that they can given their respective circumstances. All the gang asured in the knowledge that they belong together. Angelica attempting at every turn to re-unite her parents. Kirsten being a thorn in these plans for a B and T reconcillation. Fabulous writing as the dialogue sparkles and shines like new christmas tree lights. You truly breath fresh air into this fan fiction site. Angelica is full of the love and desperation that a child of loving yet separated parents can be. And as for defending her mothers against the small-mindedness of her classmates was the right thing to do; her actions were not. I really can’t wait to see where this leads because it has started out as one helluva journey so the rest of the trip is bound to be a blast. no matter how you play this out… someone is bound to get hurt… thats reality within the fiction… the other thing is that even though it is fiction i feel for them and i really want everyone to be happy…

Another great one Gumby. I think Kristen is trying to guilt Bette a little…and I agree with Smiley I think before it is all over she will try to get down and dirty. She will TRY but she will never be able to get at Bette’s heart especially if Tina has taken up permenant residence. Bette and Tina need to stop being scared of what may or may not happen and work on the elephant in between them. Keep posting Gumby!

This is what I hate about bette and tina. They so stubborn and know they still wanna be together but go on with these other relationships just to get back together in the end, but break many hearts on the way and its not right
