“Kit, Helena, your first person’s here.”

“Thanks Tommy, send them back”

“Don’t forget to smile girl, it’ll all be over soon.”

They both chuckled and greeted their first interviewee.  This was gonna be a long day.

She walked into the kitchen to find her dad at the stove.

“Morning dad, what ya doing?”

“Morning sweetie, I am making your favourite blueberry and chocolate chip pancakes.”

“I knew there was a reason I loved you.”

Her dad chuckled “God it’s good to have you home, I missed you kiddo.”

“I missed you too dad”

“So, out with it, why now?  You’ve been living in London since College why come back now?”

“I got tired dad, tired of not having my family close by, tired of the same old routine.  When I got that call from Sarah telling me she was pregnant, I knew I needed to come back. There was no way I was gonna miss out on the baby growing up.”

“So what happened with you and Jane?”

“I thought I told you!  Turns out she liked my money and connections more than she liked me.  I didn’t see it at first but every time we went to dinner I paid.  She dropped hints about shows and concerts she wanted to go to, knowing I had connections she asked if I could get hold of tickets and she would pay me back, only she never did and I was too dumb to even ask for it.”

“I never liked that girl”

She chuckled “you never even met her”

“I know but she just seemed wrong for you”

“Well, I finally realised, after 6 months mind you, that she wasn’t as into my as I was her, so I ended it.  She had the cheek to say that she had gotten all she needed out of me anyway and walked out.”

“Well you finally made the right choice, I just wish you could find a nice girl.”

“Me too dad, me too.”

Helena sat back in her chair, it had been a long but productive day.

“So, we’re agreed, we’re gonna hire Sally for The Planet and Jesse for Hit”
