The Adventures Of Bette Porter And Sissee Gardner Living Happily Ever After (Part 1, Chapter 2)
PART ONE: SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA
Chapter 2
“Girrrlll! What’r you sayin’ to me?”
Kit looked at me wide eyed when I mentioned her son David as my possible sperm donor.
“Well, now wait a minute,” I implored. “What’s wrong with that?”
Kit raised her voice an octave, “Because my David is an arrogant little prick! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. He’s a stubborn bigot. Didn’t Bette ever tell you about her and Tina asking him to play along with them, in front of that social worker when Bette was trying to adopt little Angie?”
I shook my head no.
“Sure, they wanted him to be there as a male influence for the baby but he said right in front of that bitch-woman that he didn’t believe in gay adoption!”
“Well, this is different.”
“This is worse.”
“We didn’t know if my brother would do it either but he thought about it and decided to go through with it.”
“Well, David ‘s up in Seattle if you want to fly up there like you flew to Milwaukee to see your bro. All the more power to you if you can get Bette to go too.”
“Maybe I’ll go by myself,” I pondered. “Maybe I’ll find somebody up in Seattle to go interview. That will be my excuse.”
“Hey! If you go! I go!”
“To see your arrogant son?”
“Hell no, to see my sweet grandbabies.”
“I’ll let you know what Bette says.”
When I left She Bar it was nearly 2 p.m. I knew Bette had meetings all day preparing for the fall semester. She said she would call me if she got a chance but apparently she was too busy. I felt kind of bummed about that because I figured she could at least give me a few minutes between meetings. She had even asked me not to call because she might be in the middle of a conference and I certainly understood that. .
I was between meetings myself. My next appointment was with Joyce Wischnia on the Miracle Mile of Wilshire Blvd where she had her law office. I had to sign papers for my divorce from Howie. As the weeks and months went by he had lost some of his bitterness. We were able to work things out amicably with our respective lawyers.

Hi-I am here again. I was in the US for some weeks and had no time to read the fanfics regularly. I just read your last chapters and was happy that Bette and Sissee had such a good time. Let’s see what you have planned for them and what Bette had in mind. I am not anxious for the next chapters.
Yeah, Bette and Sissee will get married, when California law will allow same sex marriage to maintain as it is.
Jurefesa, I am happy to see you again. Thanks for catching up with the story. What I have planned for Bette and Sissee in future chapters is all about their future which indeed will seem very rosy.
Bette’s Babe, I am pretty optimistic about California passing the same sex marriage law this time around. I think they are slow in catching on but this time it will happen.
hey sis – love that you’ve been posting 2 at a time lately! wonder whats eating our Bette? i’m happy when Joyce gets brought into your story (i love that character) and you write her so well…bring on the next two, pps!!
What’s up with Bette? Just because she’s having a hard time getting pregnant she’s retreating into herself? Don’t do that Bette. That’s what got you & Tina into trouble. I’m anxious for the next chapters. I’m with mushy, I love Joyce too.
hmm interesting chapter..very nice though(smile) i just can’t c y B didn’t call S all day…but i’m glad S didn’t call her too..let her come home and explain y..but i love P&J in this chapter, they were so funny
Thanks my dear Gummy Bear for your comments. Bette had clearly instructed Sissee not to call her because she was in meetings all day and that Bette would call Sissee when she got a chance. We’ll find out what happened in the next chapter and meanwhile, thanks for also likeing the J & P connection.
Hey Mushy, Thanks for your comments. I truly enjoy writing about Joyce. She plays that character so uniquely.
Thanks kbergin47. Bette retreating into herself? No, but you will see what happened and it is through no fault of Bette’s that they did not communicate all day.
