    The Agreement Chapter 5

    Chapter 5

Tina quietly crept to Kate’s bathroom and starred at her cell phone. She wanted to cal Bette. She wanted to hear her voice, but she knew that wasn’t fair. Bette may have been the one to mess up but Tina knew she was not helping the situation. She gave in and called.

    Bette: Hello? Tina?

    Tina: Hi…

Bette: T, it’s 2:30 in the morning, are you ok?

    Tina: Yeah, I’m fine.

She was lying and Bette knew it. It wasn’t like Tina to call ANYONE this late.

    Bette: T

Tina: I just…IUmm, do you think we could talk?

    Bette: Sure, now?

Bette was worried and Tina could hear it in her voice.

Tina: I’m fine Bette, I just need to talk.

Bette: Ok, Do you want to meet me somewhere?

Tina: Well, I was hoping maybe you could pick me up. I’m not at home.

    Bette: Are you at Alice’s?

    Tina: No.

Tina didn’t want to tell Bette anymore than that.

    Bette: Ok.

Bette wasn’t sure she wanted to hear anymore than that.

Tina: I’ll give you the address.

After Tina gave her the address she hurried off the phone afraid Kate might have woken up. She peered out toward the living room but Kate hadn’t stirred. She grabbed a piece of paper from the kitchen counter and rummaged through her purse for a pen.

    Kate,
I am sorry. I’m not ready for this. I don’t want to hurt you in the quest to find myself. Another time another place
    Tina

She ran outside. She knew Bette didn’t live far and she didn’t want to make her wait. Bette pulled up to the drive away just 5 minuets later. Tina hopped in the car and closed the door.

    Tina: Let’s go ok?

Bette starred at Tina. She looked tired and weary.

Bette: T, talk to me. What’s wrong?

Tina: Let’s just get out of here.

Bette gently pressed the gas pedal.

Bette: where do you want to go T?

Tina didn’t respond. She opened the car window and let the air sweep her away.

Bette decided on the pier. Tina loved it there. She said it made her feel like she was alone with sky there. When they finally arrived Bette was the first one out of the car. She walked around the other side to let Tina out.

    2. Very good…very emotional chapter…but this line, “Both women desperately fighting to be understood through this one kiss.”…was great! Thank you.
