Shane nodded and took another puff of her cigarette. "No need to explain to me. Been there. Done that. Well …" then she smirked again. "Not THAT."
"Never been caught with someone way out on some deserted highway?" Bette chuckled, bringing her hand to the back of her neck. "In someone else’s car? Ahh come on. Really?"
Shane chuckled and tapped her cigarette as she exhaled slowly. "Been caught on a broken ferris wheel near the top. Does that count?"
Bette leaned on the car next to Shane and crossed her own arms. "Well, still. Sorry we went a little … crazy."
"I’d say you’re finally onto something," Shane teased, inhaling once again. "Both of you."
"Listen … maybe we should just get out of your way," Bette offered, looking out to the road.
"Oh sure. I’ll just strand you both with no opportunity to ever get back to civilization."
Bette nearly snorted, just shaking her head at her new friend – and her friends were few and far between. She looked at Shane, and she was grateful for all of her kindness. "Can I at least pay for your gas? I’d like to help out in some way, and I have some cash on me."
"I’m surprised she left you with anything," Shane chuckled, breathing in with pleasure. It was an incredible smoke. "From what you’ve told me, the girl’s a real bitch."
"Yeah," Bette agreed with an unsure smile. "I really don’t know what we’re gonna do about her. I would place her in a mental facility if I were legally allowed."
"Someone should," Shane scoffed, feeling a set of eyes on her. When she looked down, she saw Tina on the other side of the car – both arms crossed over it, and her chin rested there.
"Are you two talkin’ about me?" she smirked, glancing over to Bette who now turned her way.
"No," Bette said, almost breathless with the visual reminder of her feelings for Tina. She was so damn beautiful. "Jenny."
"Oh god – the jury’s out on that one!" Tina chuckled, pushing herself off from the car. "Okay, but we do have to leave. I do believe we’re on a deadline, Bette." She tapped her watch to accentuate the idea.
"Just havin’ a smoke," Shane said, inhaling once more and looking out towards the horizon. "We’ll be on the road again in a minute."
"I don’t think we should be so demanding, Tina," Bette teased.
"I’ll be in the car, Bette." Tina replied with attitude. The attitude one spouse would speak to another in experienced annoyance.
Shane tried not to laugh when Bette rolled her eyes. "She’s just giving you a hard time."
"Ahh she’s brainstorming," Bette smiled, getting up. "Maybe I should wait in there for you. I don’t want you to feel rushed."
"Sure," Shane smirked, trying to keep to herself. Bette and Tina were more entertaining than she had imagined they might be.
They were on the road in no time.

Too bad Carmen wouldn’t give Shane her number.
This chapter felt like a completely different story that I was reading, Carmen the cop, oh so clever.
Hey Gr, Great addition to this twisted drama. Bette and Tin finally accepting the attraction between them and acting on it.Suddenly there was something right with the world as their lips connected for the first time.I loved Shane and Carmen’s reactions. Just priceless. Now on to some more loving and writing for BnT to get their teeth into.I can’t wait to find out where this leads next. Many thanks from Your Loyal Fan.
