    The Audacious First Date

Come Saturday, Bette was sitting at the restaurant with her arms crossed over the table. She looked around to the fancy atmosphere, and felt deflated that she’d had real faith that her date would have shown up on time. Tardiness was a pet peeve of hers.

Bette stared to her glass of water, and glanced up as the server came to check on her for the fourth time.

“A glass of red, please,” Bette said with a sad smile behind her eyes.

She was looking through the menu when someone was blocking her view from the lights of the room.

    “And I’ll get an-”

Bette stopped short when she realized who was standing before her. It was Helena. And not only was it Helena, but a very revealed and sexualized image of the woman who had so desperately asked for the date.

Without either purpose or the ability to stop herself, Bette’s eyes scanned slowly up from the short hemline of the mini dress to its plunging neckline. Her mind raced quite accidentally to how she might get the woman into bed before she adamantly insisted to herself that wouldn’t happen. The battle within caused a natural smirk on her face she hid with the menu.

    “Well … hello yourself.”

Bette blushed a deep red that settled in her cheeks – gathering herself before she responded. There was nothing quite as embarrassing as stuttering at the sight of an attractive woman.

“Nothing to say for yourself?” Helena continued, teasing as she took her seat across from Bette. “I’m sorry I’m late … I … felt terrible, so … here I am in this.”

Bette’s eyes darted over her menu with a humorous raised brow, ready for conversation. “Excuse me?”

“I know what a woman wants,” Helena winked, using her sexual appeal as she always did – trying to appear as if she didn’t. She sat back in the dress and grinned at her date: “I knew you’d like the dress.”

“It’s fine,” Bette teased back, forcefully bringing her eyes to the menu to make a point of having the power not to stare. After all, Bette was a woman who garnered many stares. She knew what it was like to feel objectified. Certainly, there was a time and a place for it, though …

    2. I needed this story tonight! And so fun to imagine. Yes what you said about Helena making a game of relationships plays right into her character in The Professor. But Bette, given all her dominate nature still cherishes a real relationship in the end. Of course that’s what makes the tension in the subsequent story so intense with poor Tina as the unwitting pawn. As Kingg says you got the style and the words and you get it done just right. Thanks for the update. Seriously, it was a gift at this moment.

      • I’m so glad the post came when you needed it most. The characters balance quite strangely together, but it’s what makes for the toxic mix at the end of their relationship. I have never done a prequel before, but I am enjoying the dramatic irony afoot. Thank you for leaving a comment.

    3. Wow! That was some first date. My eyes are still on fire from reading all the sexy things Bette and Helena did on their first date. When the sexual chemistry is so strong you can’t help but act on it. Thank you so much for writing this prequel. It’s so much better than anything I could’ve imagined. So what happens on date #2??? Do they get through dinner? The appetizers? Lol

      • Some first date indeed. I’m happy you’re enjoying the story. It is a strange dance they’re doing together, and not altogether leading themselves into a healthy relationship. Thanks for commenting. Date #2 is coming up soon …
