    You can talk?

     

    Carmen: I think you need a good suit. I want you to come with me to the club tonight so I can introduce you to the rest of my friends. They’ll love you.

     

    Shane nodded happily. She was getting more and more of what Carmen was saying. They stopped at Hugo Boss for her suit. Shane was sitting there on the couch as Carmen rummaged through the stack of clothes. A man approached Shane. She looked up at him with questioning eyes. Her once brightly green colored eyes turned to a dark shade of green.

     

    Tim: I’m sorry to bother you, but I’m Tim and manager here. Our company is looking for a new model to help with the spring line, would you be interested?

     

    Shane looked at Carmen and back at Tim. The man kept looking at her with a smile. Shane looked at Carmen again.

     

    Shane: Carmen!

     

    Carmen turned and immediately went over to Tim.

     

    Tim: Oh hey!

     

    Carmen: Sorry, Tim, she’s not much of a talker.

     

    Tim: It’s okay. I was just wondering if she’d do our spring line for us. We’re missing a person.

     

    Carmen: You want Shane to do it?

     

    Tim: Yeah, I like her. She looks great.

     

    Shane: Carmen.

     

    They both looked down at Shane.

     

    Tim: Does she say anything else?

     

    Carmen laughed nervously.

     

    Carmen: Tim, gotta tell you something. I don’t really know exactly who she is. I found her last night.

     

    Tim: And you took her home?

     

    Carmen knew Tim was going to be angry with her. He was one of her close friends. He used to be with Jenny, but Jenny broke up with him after falling for a girl, so now they’re just friends too.

     

    Carmen: Sort of?

     

    Tim: Carmen, that’s dangerous.

     

    Carmen: But she’s harmless!

     

    Carmen hugged Shane’s head. Her eyes turned back to a nice clear green. Tim sighed. She looked at Shane and nodded.

     

    Tim: Does she have any proof of identity?

     

    Carmen: No.

     

    Tim: Does she have amnesia?

     

    Carmen: I don’t think so. She just isn’t normal.

     

    Tim look at Carmen sarcastically.

     

    Tim: Ya think.

     

    Carmen: But hey, she’s adorable. Granted she doesn’t speak, she doesn’t get a lot of things, and at first she walked on all fours-

     

    Tim: She walks on all fours?!

     

    Carmen: At first! That was at first!

     

    Tim rubbed him temples with his hand.

     

    Carmen: But she’s sweet, and caring.

     

    Carmen found herself lost in Shane’s eyes until Tim placed his hand between their line of vision.

     

    Tim: So you’re like her legal guardian?

     

    Carmen: I guess you can say that.

     

    Tim: Well, legal guardian, can I borrow her for the shoot?

     

    Carmen: You’re not exploiting Shane.

     

    Tim: I won’t. I’ll even set up her bank account. I’ll make her a star.

     

    Carmen: Promise?

     

    Tim: Promise.

     

    Carmen ruffled Shane’s hair.

     

    Carmen: Aren’t you lucky and pretty. You get a job the first day we come out.

     

    Shane nodded.

     

    Carmen: Oh yeah, Tim, can you help me find something that fits Shane? I want her to go to the Planet tonight. You’re going too right?

     

    Tim: Yeah, I’ll be a bit late. Let’s go over here. I think there was a new rack of suits that came in this morning.

     

    Tim gave Shane the suit for free since they’d be working together. Shane happily held onto Carmen’s hand while she carried the bags in her other hand and walked home. She felt happy here with Carmen.
