    The face of a stranger

Tabitha underwent several more procedures over the next two months under Dr. Porter’s loving care and talented hands. Bette removed the bandages and cleaned the wounds every few days as she checked the progress. Although everything looked good Bette knew it had to hurt like hell but Tabitha was very brave throughout and never complained.

Whenever possible Bette would do her consultations and progress reports outside of her office or the examination room. They took advantage of the paradise they lived in and went for walks; had picnic lunches and spent time together on the other side of the island that they both found so majestic.

During her free time Tabitha talked Bette into posing as she created a magnificent portrait that captured the essence of the stunningly beautiful doctor. Bette was amazed at how well Tabitha painted even though she could only see out of her right eye and had limited use of her left arm.
She encouraged Tabitha to think about selling or at least displaying the canvases at an art gallery in town. Bette herself was an art collector and aficionado so she could recognize good work that would attract other collectors. She also knew several influential people in the Los Angeles art world including Helena’s mother Peggy Peabody and Franklin Phillips the Director of the California Arts Center.

She’d gone to the Kennard Gallery in West Hollywood a few years before while visiting her sister Kit but didn’t know anything about the owners and of course Tabitha had no recollection of owning it. Tabitha wasn’t quite sure yet what she would do with her paintings; mostly they were her therapy and she credited her ability to have this artistic outlet with saving her sanity.

Although Bette was spending so much time with Tabitha she wasn’t neglectful of her other patients by any means. Everyone got the attention they needed. It was just that Tabitha needed more specialized care because of the complexity of her surgeries. Bette’s free time was her own to do with what she pleased and Tabitha apparently enjoyed her company as much so their friendship grew. Since Tabitha didn’t remember much about herself she wanted to know everything about Bette.

Bette wasn’t always comfortable talking about herself but with Tabitha she felt safe doing so. There was a connection between them that neither tried to deny. Tabitha remained cautious and reserved but she was developing feelings for her doctor. She knew Bette was a lesbian but wondered if she herself was. Under the circumstances it could just be an infatuation or a crush out of gratitude to the good doctor.

    1. I’m glad Tina is find comfort with Bette. I’m also glad her memory is coming back slowly. Now she needs to get stronger and go kick Jodie out.

    2. GM! Was asleep last night by the time the post went up! Thank God I awoke to this beautiful story once again! I love it when a author post everyday on a story! I loved it once again! Its 4:07 am my time and I was asked to come in to work early. I was going in at 5 am but I woke up to pee so I might as well get up and get ready and go ahead in. Hopefully, I’ll have another great post when I’m off by noon. Be Blessed and PPS

    3. ok. i’m in and pulling up the rear am I. WONDERFUL to wake up to another chapter of this weaving tale. WOW!! when the bandages were removed, I love the way any reader is able to vision what your words are describing. you have the rare ability to take a story in its own simplicity, and allow the reader to “see” in their minds eye the portrait being unveiled before them. another wonderful triumph to a story well told. bravura again to you and for you allowing us to continue to travel this journey with bette and Tabitha.

I AM still #LOVINDAVE for saving his girlie. he is my own personal hero. if by chance “tina” does make it back to dave in some small way, I will be happy to “see” his reaction and his protectiveness emerge.

the slow dance bette does so well, continues towards full circle. must say, I AM loving the connectedness of the large and far lesbian community. bette will find her answers and I am sure she will “bump” into more familiar faces who will help her find those answers to her many questions. thank you again for taking the time to share with us all.

    4. I’m like the others. I love it when a writer regularly update this story. You have your own life and it is often very crowded, but it shows the concern towards the readers.
You have a wonderful talent with words, to be able to reach the reader to see the story while reading.
I like that they’re getting closer to each other. Tina increasingly good regains her memories.
Will you give us a description that Tina looks after the surgery?
I’m looking forward to the sequel.

    5. Just loved this scene where Tina
see the reflection of the mirror just a face,
that even she did not know, and that will live
from now with this new identity.
      10 Stars.
