The Fast and Fevered Fall – Chapter Thirteen

Tina walked past Helena, and into her bedroom, slamming the door on her way in. Helena stood, rooted to the floor. She couldn’t remember a time when she had seen Tina so angry. There had been times when they had fought, times when they had baited each other, both during their relationship and afterwards, once they had worked out how to be friends but Helena had seen nothing like this. It was like something else had possessed Tina, turning her into someone that Helena didn’t even recognise.

Helena walked towards Tina’s bedroom door, slowly and quietly so that she could listen to what was going on inside. At first she heard nothing, then there was the distinct sound of crying. She could hear Tina sobbing, it sounded like Tina’s heart was breaking. Helena cracked open the door to see Tina sitting on the side of the bed, her head in her hands. Tina’s whole body was shaking at the force of which she was crying.

Helena sat down on the bed, as close to Tina as she dared to get. She rubbed her hand across Tina’s back, trying to provide some relief from the anguish that her friend was feeling. Once Helena sensed that the sobs were beginning to subside she pulled Tina towards her. Gathering her in her arms, holding her close, her hand still stroking Tina’s back. This only seemed to provoke a new wave of sorrow from Tina so Helena just held on tighter, thinking that she wasn’t going to let go until Tina said that it was OK. Even for a long time after Tina stopped crying they sat there together, Tina’s head buried in the crook of Helena’s neck, gaining comfort from the arms that were around her. Eventually Tina pulled back, she looked at Helena through glazed over eyes. Helena cradled Tina’s face, wiping away the last few stray tears with the thumbs.

    “I’m sorry….”

“It’s OK.” said Helena, cutting Tina off.

“No, I shouldn’t have said that, about Angelica. It was wrong. I know that she loves spending time with you.”

“It’s forgotten about. Now, what are we going to do about you?”

“Does Bette really want me to go back to LA?” asked Tina, in a small voice.

    Comments

    1. Yes, there is a very bumpy road ahead for tina, for everyone associated really. But it has to be Tina’s choice, no one but her, she’s the only one that can make that choice. And hopefully for the right reasons, and Angelica is as right as anything else. This Tina is a total mess, I hope that this is her rock bottom…somewhat like ms Jo’s, you two are on the same wave length…great writers, great stories, great storytelling!!!! Tks CG

    2. Why can’t I find other words for my comments? I just keep repeating myself. Oh well. It’s so hard to see Bette and Tina apart and under these circumstances and still, apparently, caring for each other deeply. I hope Tina can pull herself together, with Helena’s help because she’s not going to be able to do it all on her own, and find her way back to her family. Angelica needs her, and I also have this feeling that Bette wouldn’t mind having her around either… How do you always manage to break my heart with ALL of your stories?!

    3. “I could always drug her, chuck her on a plane and before she wakes up we’ll already be back in LA.” suggested Helena, brightly – That sounds like a reference to “Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood” lol

    4. I’ve always liked Helena, even in the show during S2 but you and tiff make me like her even more. And lol at there’s always the swimming pool…

    5. Do you think it would speed Tina’s decision to go back to LA if she were to know that Bette would meet her at the airport with her Levi’s on?? I think it would… next plane out!

    6. I would like to know, how old is Angelica? Tina needs some help and I think Bette will be the one to get her out of this druken mess. Looking forward to the next chapter.

    7. Great chapter – It’s a wonderful twist to have Bette and Helena working together to get Tina back on track. Can’t wait to hear more specifically what derailed her to begin with.

    8. i’m glad helena is there for tina but her move to LA is a must, i think only angelica and bette can help her out of the mess she got herself into, because bette was there from the beginning

    9. I love this….but I’m about ready for T to go back to LA, into rehab and her wife’s arms…and take care of her baby…enuff grief, she loves Bette…and Bette loves her…u know that!!!! we all do except IC and cronies…lol

    10. I’m a bit confused about the timeline and also with Helena questioning of Tina’s choice of bed mate? Is she emotionally attracted to man while physically needs a woman? I’m perplexed and Tina’s one messed up woman. Can’t wait for the back story that lead up to this. Thanks.
