A couple of days later…
(Bette’s in the kitchen typing on her laptop, and Tina’s in the livingroom reading to Angelica)
Ring! Ring!
(Bette’s cellphone rings. She stops tying and gazes over at the device. Tina stops reading and looks up from the book. She immediately turns around and looks at her wife. Angelica then looked up from the book and gazed at her mother. Bette picks the phone up and checks the caller id. It’s Lindsey(her assistant from New York)
"Who is it?" Tina asked.
Bette looks up and says, ‘It’s Lindsey." She presses the talk button and says, "Hey Lindsey."
"Hey Bette…How are you doing?" Lindsey replied. She then leaned up against her desk, and crossed one leg over the other. Her hair bounced along her shoulder blades.
"I’m good, and you?" Bette asked. She smiled.
"Great, except…" Bette’s smile slowly fades. "I sorta have a miniture problem." She clears her throat.
"What’s the matter?" Bette’s eyes widened. She then began to worry. The nervousness became clear as she began fondling her hair.
"What’s wrong?" Tina asked. Bette raised her hand and Tina silenced.
"I need your help Bette. It’ll only be for a couple of days. Laura and Burt quit."
"WHAT???" Her lips dropped.
"Yeah, they quit a couple of weeks ago."
"WHAT???"
"I’m sorry I didn’t tell you. I didn’t want you to worry."
"That’s too late. How have you been managing the gallery alone?"
"I’ve been busting my butt with taking calls, making appointment, setting the gallery up for artist talks, and working over time to keep this place sqeaky clean. I’m tired Bette. I need your help."
"Okay…okay…Calm down. When do you need me?"
"Honestly?"
"Yes…" She rubs her forhead.
Lindsey’s calm. "Friday afternoon."
"Okay…" Bette stands and walks over to her calendar. "That’s in a couple of days."
"Right…" She bites down on her lip.
"Alright…I’ll take the eight-thirty flight out tomorrow night."
"Wonderful. I’ll see you then."
"Okay, bye." Bette ends the call.
"I’ll be right back. Pick it up where I left off," Tina says to Angelica.
"Okay, mommy." She begans reading as Tina approached her wife. She sat down in a chair next to Bette.
"What happened?"
"Lindsey’s swamped in New York. Laura and Burt quit."

Bette’s in NY right? Can we run over Michelle with a cab? I came close to getting hit by a NY cabbie 8 years ago so I know how fierce they are.

Tina is right you can not trust Michelle. Michelle is a snake and not to much high on the food chain as Candace was. I hope that Bette knows what she is doing by even checking on her. Tina is her baby and not some other fly by the night flunky.

mmm… I’m sorry but it may be all about trust I wouldn’t like my wife to go clubbing with someone who has the hots for her either… I kind of like lamentaminis idea… Cab+Michelle=flat Michelle? LOL
Dangerous… Maybe Bette should’ve brought Tina and even Angie with her. I think it’ll help if Bette and Tina could take some holidays sometime.
Okay I don’t think that Bete is a dog, but she is unnecessarly playing with fire. If she needs to go clubbing she should be going with Lindey and covering all of the charges because that gurls deserves it. Maybe she is trying to hook Michelle up with Lindsey, but it look stupid (which she is not) and supecious :o(
Okay, I love Bette but, DAMN she is just a dog. What’s wrong with the woman? Doesn’t she know that you can not trust Michelle not to make a pass and Bette is just foolish enough to reciprocate. Why else would the first thing she wanted to do was see Michelle. Girl’s crazy. Thanks for the post.
Call me old-fashioned – but I don’t think should be going out with Michelle. Tina’s right to feel apprehensive.
Bette is playing with fire. And isn’t she about toe be impregnated? What is she doing going out and knocking ’em back?…on the other hand, I love my Baby A. She is the most amusing character on the site, much like Angelica was in S3 – a bright light in a dark night of a season! Thanks! No, your story is not a dark night – you know what I mean!
