The Gathering 01.24 – Full Circle

            They were all gathered in the newly opened Atmosphere, the theme ranging from hot to cool.  A stage was at the far end of the building, for bands and DJ’s.  Yet at the other side, you could venture outside onto the new deck and have a quieter dinner.  They’d yet to have hired a full time staff to do the cooking, but they should have everything ready in a little less than a month from the engagement party.               

            Bette stood on the stage, a forced smile on her face as she began to speak, looking at Tina as she spoke.

            “I’d like to welcome you here today to celebrate the engagement of my sister Kit to Ivan.  In this day and age it’s wonderful to see two people in love.”  Bette said, her voice strained, but she meant it.  She’d given up trying to control everything and everyone.  It was a lesson that was hard to learn; but she was learning it; slowly.

            The crowd cheered as Ivan kissed Kit; and the party began in earnest.  The music began and couples of every type drifted to the dance floor.  Tina went over to Bette and hugged her; pinching her cheek in a childish way.

            “You are so cute when you are speechless.”  Bette frowned she hadn’t known what to say to begin with.  It wasn’t the crowd it was the subject.

            “I think I’m going to get a drink want one?”  Bette asked, and Tina shook her head.

            “I was going to go over and talk to Sam, maybe get her to go talk to Shane?  Alice told me she got back today and hasn’t even talked to her yet.”  Tina grinned, Bette knew what was going on, she was playing matchmaker.

            “How about I take Sam…”  Tina laughed and Bette grinned.  “And you take Shane?”  Tina nodded and headed over to Shane, her mood playful as she skipped over to the female Romeo.

            Bette set her sights on Sam not really knowing where to start, this was not her thing; but Tina seemed intent on getting them together.  Not matter what the cost.
