“I know all about it.” Tina smiles warmly at Bette but she can’t stop the pangs of jealousy sneaking in. They never really talked about their respective past and as much as she’s dying to know she isn’t about to let Helena embarrass her girlfriend. She laces their fingers together. Bette squeezes her hand in gratitude.
Helena silently growls then looks over the dance floor at a pretty blonde standing at the bar. They lock meaningful eyes and she tilts her head upward then smiles as the stranger begins her approach. She sits back and crosses her arms, waiting patiently for the impending drama.
“Bette Porter?” The stranger pretends to be surprised.
“Jodie?” Bette looks at her ex, not liking the situation.
“I thought that was you. Still gorgeous as ever.”
Bette doesn’t answer. She is not about to return any compliments. This could really turn bad. She plans to end this quickly.
“This is my partner, Tina Kennard and our friends, Dana, Alice and Shane. And I’m sure you already know Helena.” Bette looks for a reaction. She smiles at the discomfort on Jodie’s face, confirming her suspicion of a setup. Tina picks up on Bette’s clever probe. She glares at Helena who looks quickly away.
“No. I don’t.” Jodie lies poorly. She takes a nervous step back. “Ladies, it’s very nice to meet you.” She says insincerely. She doesn’t wait for a response but looks back at Bette, her composure returning full force. She can’t believe that Bette is even more beautiful than she remembers. “So Bette, have you come back to reclaim your crown?” She’s eager to be first in line.
“No. I’m extremely happily taken. But I’m sure you know that already.” Bette stands up pulling Tina with her. “Let’s dance, Princess.” Bette gives Jodie a ‘fuck off’ look then leads her girlfriend to the dance floor. They wrap their arms around each other.
“Helena is on my last nerve.” Tina exclaims through gritted teeth.
“You are the most brilliant, most wonderful woman in the world. I love how you read me so well.” Bette kisses Tina hard on the lips. Tina smiles but is filled with anger.
“I don’t know what the fuck is up with Helena. Why is she trying to break us up?”

So glad you’re back… Love this story and Bette and Tina’s relationship… Helena can kick bricks she’s annoying, I just hope she doesn’t come between B & T and that Bette continues to stay one step ahead of her at all times… I also hope Kelly doesn’t become an issue for them…
