Chapter 4

7:30pm. Day 1. Outside Alice’s Apartment. West Hollywood

Bette opened the front passenger door of her Saab to let Alice in. She glanced at Tina and couldn’t help but flash her a smile as she opened the rear door for her to climb in too.

She walked around to her door, climbed in and took a deep breath. She glanced up at the mirror to be met with a view made her mind go to places it shouldn’t. Tina was wearing tight fitting jeans, but it wasn’t her ass that Bette was staring at, it was her cleavage that was accentuated by the deep plunge in the blue top she had on. It took Bette a second to realise she could also see Tina’s face in the mirror and she was looking back at her. Shit shit shit. Had she seen her checking her out?

"Ready babe?" Alice’s voice broke her out of her reverie.

"Yep, let’s go"

As she reversed she glanced at Tina again and found the blonde was still looking at her causing her heart rate to go up again. She blushed and turned to look at Alice and found that same goofy grin she had been wearing since the first night they slept together. Guilt washed away the warmth she had been feeling. She smiled tightly at Alice, put the car into gear and started driving towards the restaurant.

Alice had chosen a casual seafood restaurant on the pier. The weather was perfect and the view amazing. Perfect place for a romantic date thought Bette before she could help herself. She’s Alice’s friend, and she has a girlfriend… and apparently so do you, quit it Porter.

They ordered wine and perused the menu. Bette was refusing to look up from it and so didn’t notice Tina stealing glances her way. Tina was taking in those eye again – those eyes were made for drowning in.

Bette was still wearing the suit she had worn to work today; she had decided to just stay back at CU after her meetings to finish up some paperwork she had been neglecting. The charcoal suit was perfectly tailored to flatter her slim frame, the black shirt was short sleeved and showed off her toned arms. She had left the jacket in the car, unbuttoned a few buttons on the shirt, touched up her make up and added a black onyx necklace before she left CU.
