"Oh!" I laughed punching Chris’ arm playfully as he chuckled that. I’m supposed to be his girlfriend right? What should I say?

"Well," Tina’s dad said, "she’s a beautiful woman Chris, you can break ‘er in as much as you want!"
Laughter broke out in the room and I flushed furiously and looked at Tina who looked angry. "Come honey," Tina’s mom said, "lemme take ya to your room. My name’s Caroline and my husband is Bob."

"Why do ya look mad Tina?" Josh’s wife said smiling sweetly.

I saw a deep scowl settle on Tina’s face and I heard Hailey scoffing behind me.

"Babe," Josh said to her softly as if telling her to stop.

"I just wanna know," she said feigning innocence, "why is Tina so protective?"

Now everyone’s eyes were on Tina and she looked like she was about to start sweating.

"Come on guys, Bette’s probably her friend," Ryan interjected quickly.

Everyone looked surprised that Ryan spoke and I gave him an appreciative smile. He nodded knowingly then looked at Tina who was looking at him in surprise "Um yeah, Bette’s my best friend," Tina said nodding.

"Oh well ain’t that neat?" Caroline said, "come on darlin’ I’ll show you to your room."

I nodded and followed the woman as Tina followed close behind.

"Here ya go!" she said cheerfully opening the door.

"Mom! Chris’ room?" Tina whined.

"Of course honey! Where else is she gonna sleep?"

"They’re not married! And Chris shares his room with Ryan! She could share my room with me and Laney," Tina said.

"Oh I forgot ’bout Ryan, oh dear," Caroline said laughing, "yes go ahead and take ‘er to your room then."

"Thanks Mrs. Kennard," I said respectfully.

"Please, call me Caroline."

"Thanks Caroline," I amended.

"Come on," Tina said as Caroline walked back out into the living room. I followed Tina deeper into the room where she went to the bathroom. She walked across it to another door which led to her room.

"Oh you share a bathroom," I said.

"Four people one bathroom can be quite terrible," Tina laughed, "we gotta always ‘member to lock both sides."

"Hey, that sounded Southern!" I laughed.

Tina blushed and covered her face with her hands, "ahh it’s gettin’ to me! Ahh!"
