The L Wing chapter 163
THE L WING Chapter 163
Narration of First Lady Tina Kennard Porter
It has been a very long day and when the clock ticks around to 4:20 I am still working on a paper for Bette. I have only been in the job a few hours and I am overwhelmed by the sheer amount of work that it entails.
I really don’t think that I am up to doing this job for much longer – I can also feel my blood pressure rising as I cope with the scores of people that all demand access to the President and have to get through the Chief of Staff first. I am worried about who will do the job if I don’t. I cast my pen aside and go and speak to Shane’s assistant who is very sweet and has done his best to keep some of the lesser stuff from my desk.
I walk into Bette’s outer office and Tasha scowls at me. Bette might have been the one who gave Alice the order to take the week off but its obvious from the brief interactions I have had with her so far that she squarely blames me.
Senior staff was fraught because Bette told the others that she had asked Alice to stay away from the office – I could see Dana in particularly giving me a suspicious look. But what I was impressed with was that the “ newcomers “ – CJ and Dylan both said after the meeting that they were glad that Alice wasn’t going to be around.
Neither explained exactly why – must try and get to the bottom of it. There is no doubt to me that Bette needs new blood in the Senior Staff. I am going to be painted as the baddie regarding Alice – even though I wasn’t in the room when she said whatever it was to push Bette over the edge.
“Is she busy?” I ask Tasha
“Just finished a meeting with the Homeland Security chief “
“Okay – you know that she is finished for the day?”
“She looks tired “
“She is – we have been up since 3 “
“You look tired as well “

Bad, Spumoni, bad, bad, for not posting comments to thank you for your chapters. Although there have now been 163 chapters, I still am fascinated by the L girls in the White House. You are doing such a great job.I had read the quote below a while ago and hunted for it as a teeny weeny thank-you gift for your writing. It’s about JB, not BP, but I hope you will still get a kick out of it.An article in People magazine quoted Franc Roddam, the director of The Bride, “Warren Beatty told me, ‘If she hadn’t chosen to be an actress, she could be President.'” [The quote is more enjoyable if you don’t allow yourself to speculate how lothario Warren Beatty knew the college-aged JB. :)]
I am glad that Alice is taking time off, she really needs to get her head out of her ass! And Bette needs some back bone to be there for her wife, Tina needs her there! PPS
Ally….great as always! I love the way they reconnect and I was DROOLING over the Mexican reference. I’m craving it now! As for Alice…there are just certain times where you have to learn that nothing said is for the best. She needs to recognize these times and then perhaps she wouldn’t be upsetting all those around her. I guess I think that in a way she could question the President given her direct line to her, but do it with loyalty and understanding. As for the last line and Bette’s fears, when you get in that room, your fears and anxiety over these types of things just fade. If she can run a country, face the challenges she does daily, she can stand near Tina’s head and be there for her when she needs her. I mean, I wasn’t that nervous and I was the one doing the pushing! Take care Mate…wonderful post!
oh no………oh my……….i hear a deep discussion happening here

So Bette can’t handle the sight of blood, huh??? This is going to be interested. One quick question…why do the two of them even bother with wearing clothes to bed??? I mean they just end up on the floor anyway. Eliminate the middle man! LOL
Damn they are hot, poor Bette can’t handle the sight of blood, well Tina will help her work that out. OK post soon please, thanks!
what..bette scared of blood…me too but u do cope when u have to and a birth is a have to occasion…love them…yeah what funnyone said about the clothes esp when u r pregnant…
uh-oh!
Hey Ally, Nearly fell off my chair that Bette faints at the sight of blood. it is little gems like this that keep your tales real and humorous. Just delightful. Shame that Tina is feeling the pressures of pregnancy and the Chief of Staff role. These two are just there for each other. Their love making is a joy to read. Thank you for this new excellent addition. Your Loyal Fan.
Ally you are freaking brilliant!! Your stories just keep getting better and better. Kudos to Bette for having Alice take some time to think – that’s a lot of the problem with Alice…there is no thought process between her brain and her mouth – as soon as she thinks of something, it is out of her mouth. I wonder what makes Alice think that treating her boss’s wife like shit will advance her career??? Maybe she will take this time to really think things through and when she returns she will be able to treat everyone with a lot more respect and professionalism. I’m so glad that Shane is OK. Carmen will have her nurtured back to her healthy self in no time. And once Tina goes into labor, I don’t think Bette will let anything keep her from being with Tina. Just knowing that Tina needs her, and the sight of her wife and child being born will completely win out her problem with the sight of blood. My brother was that same way – still is, but when each of his children were born he was right there and he insisted on cutting the cord both times. Thank you so much for putting so much thought and time into your stories Ally! Excellent!
Pity that Bette has such trouble with the nitty-gritty of real life and seems to have so little courage in wanting to deal with such things when they become an issue. Which could also go a fair way to explain how she’s let things get so acrimonious and out of control with Alice when it should have been nipped in the bud. While I agree that Alice’s behavior has been atrocious and that she was the WRONG person to become chief of staff, will Bette and Tina ever admit to their role? Just because Bette is president, Tina is pregnant, the two of them are beautiful and IN LOVE doesn’t make them perfect.
Great chapter AllyE, and I agree with funnyone and Audi, give Bette a little more backbone when Tina delivers so that she can at least be in the room with her. She does not have to go to the business end of the birth unless she really wants to faint. She just might surprise herself and want to watch the birth after all. The baby will be coming from the temple that she worships most.
And why in hell do either of them bother wearing anything to bed? I said they were beautiful and in love after all.
Alice still sucks but Bette needs to be more hardcore. She gives everyone of her staff 1000 chances. Like Lucy getting sent to do bad jobs for getting caught in public with drugs. You would be fired from way lesser jobs for that. I hope Bette forces herself over her fear of blood. I mean, she can at least stand at the top of the bed holding Tina’s hand. She will need the support.
Bette has been too patient with Alice and I agree that Bette and Tina aren’t perfect. The Alice issue has been a problem that is enduring for too long. I think Bette will overcome the aversion to blood, she would do anything for Tina after all.
Give a Alice a break,An clearly we see that Tina always is controlling Bette. I hope Alice resigns, so she an show them what they are going to miss. Who does think that she is, she is not mis perfect.
Bette better get some hypnotherapy for her problem with seeing blood. She has to be with Tina when their daughter is born. Great chapter. Thanks. PPS.
Hmmm I wonder if Dana has eyes for Alice now? Audi has a point about Bette. I know if I failed a drug test at work I’d have to commit to rehab if I wanted a shot at getting my job back as opposed to doing crappy jobs.
hey funnyone did i ever tell you that you have lots of opinions??? no matter i do enjoy your opinions. ally – great chapter. as much as i dont like having “those kinds of convosation” its best to just get them the hell over. thanks.
Ah great post Ally…hot sex, but that scene was way to short!! I’m sure you have kept Alice around for all this time ONLY to torment us and B&T, but this story can do without her from now on!!! LOL. Glad Shane is okay and why not let Helena replace Shane temporary, she is a better person now and one they can trust. Tina isn’t controlling Bette, but she is a very clever lady (also when it comes to politics), so it’s only natural that Bette hear what she has to say, nothing wrong with that…and dumb Alice has to see that!!! About the birth, many people think they can’t go through a birth because of the blood and all, but the greater part do fine when they really have to…maybe she can’t cut the cord and so what, but I’m sure she will do fine and stay awake during it all…I’ve faith in the president :o))
