    The L Wing – chapter 242

    THE L WING

    Chapter 242

Narration of First Lady Tina Kennard-Porter

“You can look as grumpy as you want Bette Porter but we are doing this “

I look across at Bette who does not look very happy – next to her Ella is happily playing beside us. We are heading across to Melvin’s place which is only five miles from our home.

“I was very happy lying on the sofa watching The Great Escape “

“I am sure that you were “

“I wanted to see what happened “

“I’ll buy you the DVD “

    “I really “

I look at Bette and frown “ Bette – can it – we have been over this several hundred times. Its about time you buried the hatchet with your father and then with Leigh and Kit. They are coming over tomorrow and today we are going to see your father and exchange gifts – it’s the 27th of December – we could not spend the whole of the vacation snowed in “

    “I bet I could have “

“Yes you could have but you are not – you are heading away from your own home “

“If I give the order we turn round and head back “

“Don’t bank on it just because you are the President doesn’t mean you get any say in your own home “

“I am beginning to realise what its like to be hen pecked “

    “You couldn’t spell it “

“We could have done this in the New Year “

“Bette – we are not depriving Melvin of his grand-daughter and we are not depriving our daughter of her grandfather. That is not open for debate and neither is the fact that the three of us are going to talk about your mother and what happens next. “

“Do I get a say in this ?”

    “No “

Bette tries to look sad and pathetic and looks silly – I start laughing

“You are a piece of work “ I tell her laughing – I lean across and kiss Ella who is happily sucking her toes

“Its been the best first Christmas for her “ I look at Bette who smiles

“Yes – it has – and you are much happier “

    1. Hey Aly, Good to have the family reunited for the festive season. Most revealing fact was Bette’s acceptance of her mother’s disappearance and desire not to chase this story to the very bitter end. I do agree that it would only have brought more misery to her door. Better to live in the present and plan an wonderful future with her family and friends around. Just warm and sweet. Loved it all. Many thanks from Your Loyal Fan.

    2. Funnyone – i am a celebrity is filmed in australia and eating live bugs and having rats and snakes all over you is a usual trial. she is also stuck with some minor UK celeb’s and oddly the gay actor from the original Star Trek. i always shun car crash TV like this but its tempting to see Martina in action !! google it mate !!

    3. Too bad they didn’t get William Shatner to eat bugs, especially since he’s been such a bitch to George Takei lately. One of our lesser cable channels has a show called Puke (or is it Barf? No, wait, it’s Hurl!), contestants compete to see who can scarf down the most food in timed segments interspersed with rides on things like carnival rides or mechanical bulls (I suppose you could call them elimination rounds) to see who can last the longest without spewing.
