CHAPTER 291
　
Narration of President Bette Kennard Porter
　
I have been idling my time away sitting in my quarters on Air Force One playing games on my laptop when
someone taps on the door and comes in. I ignore whoever it is for a couple of minutes
“Just give me a minute “
I find the item I was looking for in my hidden object game and hit pause before looking up. Its CJ and she doesn’t look happy – I wonder what the problem is – the trip to Rio has been a great success even though I have really missed Tina and Ella.
“Sorry about that CJ “
“Its okay”
CJ closes the door behind her and stands looking at me
“What can I do for you ?”
“May I ?” she gestures to the remote control for the TV which is on the table in front of me.
“Of course “
She takes the remote and flicks the TV on – its tuned into CNN so I half expect some dry news story to be playing on screen. Instead the scene is a huge mansion ablaze
“Looks nasty “
“It belongs to Holly Lancaster “
“WHAT !! “
“Shane rang me – I was working on my own – I went through to the press section and they are all watching it and talking about it “
“SHIT “
“Yes “
“Is she in there ?”
“The reports are that she is “
“The firemen can’t get in there ?”
“No – its too huge and there is the fear of a gas leak “
“FUCK “
“I have been watching it for about ten minutes before coming to tell you “
“What are the press saying ?”
“What you see is what they know “
“I mean that lot ?” I gesture to the door indicating the West Wing press pack
“They are interested as you would expect from news people but not that interested “
“Take a seat CJ “
CJ sits down and looks at me “ If she’s in there – she’s not alive “

Hey Ally, That was intense. First it was good to have CJ and Nette work through the loss of Holly and the effects of the fire. Then the reunion beteen Bette and Tina was a diaster. Tina really does need to trust her wife while Bette needs to answer Tina’s question. Now this is what Holly wanted – Bette and Tina moving away from each other. More please as this rension is unbearable. Many thanks again for sharing your stories with me, Your Loyal Fan and Friend.
Well, that certainly was one way to ask Bette. Dang Tina…couldn’t approach by saying something like, ‘this is what some people may say about your motives, and you need to be prepared for that.’ No, she had to just come out and ask if Bette killed the woman! Ouch ouch…and OUCH!! LOL Love it Ms. Queen of Drama! Thanks!
Excellent update. You write Bette in such a way as it is possible she ordered the torching but it went awry w/Holly being in the house. Or did Holly pay for the torching to cause Bette and Tina anxiety and maybe separation? You are THE Queen of Fanfic Drama.
What an intense confrontation! Tina needs to be more tactful and trust Bette. Poor Bette. She must feel alone and hurt, even her wife and closest friends think that she is a murderer.
Well that could have gone better. I don’t understand why Bette won’t tell Tina about the IRS plan. Thanks for the update!
I think time was against both. If Bette and Tina had learned of this together nothing would have happened. Tina would have seen Bette’s face and known that she had nothing to do with the fire but now Tina had time to think of all possibilities and had let fear cloud her better judgement.
The very last thing Bette should do is leave the white house, she should stay there and talk with Tina and tell her that she had given info to the IRS, surreptitously. Tina should know that Bette wouldn’t have holly killed for any reason.Can hardly wait to see how this pays out between Bette and Tina. Alice should keep her damned mouth shut because she has all but accused the President of murder. AllyE, you retain your crown of Drama Queen. Thanks for posting.
Well, why waste time – ask Bette straight out! I don´t believe Bette to be that kind of president, but then again I really don´t think Holly is dead either. She probably knew about the tax investigation and decided to torch the place herself. Great update. Thanks.

Just like in my previous comment. It’s so unfair for Bette that they even think that she’s capable of doing such a THING?..Man,that is Murder in any which way you see it? That’s huge….AND THEY KNEW BETTE?.. WTF?!
