The Letter ch. 32
“What happened,” I asked as she sat on the floor to lace her hiking boots.
“Get that look off your face. It wasn’t that bad. We sat out by the fire talking last night and she told me how scared she was. Bette, she really is afraid to talk to you because she doesn’t want to hurt you any more than you’re hurting. She’s scared though. I don’t know…I think she feels comfortable talking to me but maybe she just needs someone who is there for her.” She tentatively looked over at me…like she was unsure whether to voice her concerns. I smiled though. I was glad that not only did she care about me and the girls but that she also felt comfortable enough to express her thoughts.
“Ok. I’ll make an appointment and talk to her about it. I thought she was ok but maybe that was just wishful thinking on my part.”
“I think she is ok but I think that she’s confused as hell and it might help. She cried so hard last night that I almost came and got you. She loves you so much that the thought of losing you is eating her up inside. Just be there for her. She knows you love her.”
The thought of my baby crying without me there was a hard pill for me to swallow. It wasn’t like I couldn’t have been there. I chose not to be there and for that, I could kick myself. Tina could tell by the look on my face that I was thinking something along those lines.
“Babe…don’t beat yourself up for not sleeping out with us. It may have been better that you didn’t. Emma needed to have that release and she wouldn’t have had you been there. Just be there for her now and its all ok. Hey…really, she’s ok.”
I scooted over to her on the floor. “Thanks for being there for her. It means the world to me.”
“I wasn’t sure what it meant to start dating someone with kids and now I know. I love you. Emma and Alyssa are an extension of you. I love them too. I would do anything for any of you. Thanks for trusting me with them and for trusting my love for all of you.” Our moment sitting there holding one another was another reason that the weekend had turned out so wonderfully. I hadn’t really questioned whether Tina loved the girls. I assumed that she did because they were mine but to hear her declare it so proudly, brought tears to my eyes. I hoped all the mess with the Warrens would quickly go away so that we…Tina, Em, Lyss and I could start our lives in a manner that we chose.

“The girls would have been traumatized had they had to be in the same house as us as we celebrated our engagement long into the night.”Hehe – that made me laugh so hard! Great chappie. I love this story, can’t get enough. Can’t wait to meet the Warrens (not)!
It’s a beautiful day too here in Southern California, and just as I was about to go out for the day – yippee, here’s another chapter. This is *such* a dreamy story, full of love and hope. PPS!
Great story – so glad to have you back with new posts so soon. Thanks for writing.
Great to see another chapter of this story and good to know that you have a beautiful day in your world. This was a great chapter wand I was surprised to know that the campfire surprise was an engagement and it couldn’t have been more perfect. Glad the Kennards are so loving towards the girls and accepting of Bette and Tina’s relationship. Now the girls have true grandparents that will love and cherish them. Great job. PPS
Hey, nag! Kit must be the best sister in the whoooooooole world! Tank, you! Can’t wait to meet the villians… :) :P
It was a wonderful snow covered brisk here today NAG, perfect for the Christmas walk. This chapter was like a nice Christmas story with the engagement and not so much from the Warrens. Family good friends and a freindly enviroment what else could a person need? Beautiful, Thank you, Md
Love kit!!! stacey and shane seems cute together! yeah theya re getting married! but what did joyce have to say??? :)PPS
The girls are great and full of love. Kit is one rare sister. the gang is great,Bette and Tina some along time. What did Joyce have to say??? thanks
love it; glad those wee girls escaped any further traumatisation. lovely story telling.
This is a good story, and I too want to know what Joyce said, and what the Warrens are up to, besides no good. The only thing is, I wish Bette wasn’t always written in the male role, as she is in every single fic. Bette is a woman, an incredibly beautiful woman, and needs to be treated like a woman, not a man. Is Tina going to get down on one knee? Where is Bette’s proposal? Where is her ring? Food for thought.
Wow…2 fabulous surprises today Nag. The first was to find another post to this story and it was just superb…as usual. The second was Bette’s marriage proposal in the story…I didn’t see that coming yet. Can’t wait for more posts from you.
Now, that is what a family should be like. You do a bang up job with family life. In all your stories you have developed a loving family around Bette and Tina. I am so glad that it is Tina’s parents that accept Bette and kids in your stories.
Hey nag! Like you, I’m loving the weather here in Naples… sunny with no humidity. So happy to see you back with two fantastic chapters. Tina and her parents are the perfect addition to the Porter family, especially the bond between Em and Tina. Can’t imagine what would motivate the Warren’s, but I’m anxious to find out. Look forward to your next chapter, as always!
GREAT chapter NAG. I love that they girls wanted to ask Tina in front of her parents. Now they know how great grandprents can be. I think this new family with the helpof their extended family, can take whatever the Warrens can dish out. Shane and Stacey, so cute. PPS :o).
