(At Bettes house)

Bette is pacing up and down in the house. Alice is lying on the couch, reading a magazine.

Bette: I really dont feel good about this, Alice. My eyelids are twitching and I have been having this same dream for the past few nights.

Alice: Wet dreams, you mean?

Alice lowers the magazine to her nose level as she peeps up to see Bettes reaction.

Bette: (irritated) ***** you, Alice. Dont start.

Alice places the magazine on the table as she gets up.

Alice: Alright, alright Look Bette, youre thinking too much. Tina needs her own space right now. Shes an adult. Just give her some time alone to cool down. Shes probably out somewhere for a holiday and enjoying herself.

Bette: You dont understand, Alice. I have been calling her handphone, it was off. I think I have left a hundred voice messages but she doesnt seem to get them. And I have been having this same bad dream every night. I dreamt that Tina was trapped in this deep black pit. She was calling my name. I was searching everywhere for her I just I just feel so insecure.

Alice: Oh come on, Bette youre going to get a nervous breakdown.

The house phone rings. Bette rushes to grab it and answers.

Bette: (line) Hello Tina!? Is that you?

Voice: (line) Err. sorry no, but I think this is the right number. But to confirm, is a Tina Kennard staying there?

Bette: (line) (frustrated) Yes, but shes not here now. Whos that?

Bette looks at Alice and shakes her head.

Voice: (line) This is calling from the hospital. Im sorry but we have been trying to reach Tina Kennards next-of-kin?

Bette: (line) (voice shivering) Tina Kennard? Shes my wife. Has something happen to her?

Bette starts to feel tense. Alice sees and walks up to Bette.

Voice: (line) Im sorry to inform that shes in hospital right now. She was involved in a car accident and has been unconscious for the past 2 days hello? … Hello, are you still there?

Bette is still holding to the phone. She turns blank, her legs weaken. Alice quickly grabs hold of her. She takes the phone from Bette.

Alice: (line) Ya, hi there. This is Alice, Tinas friend. May I know what happened?

The staff explains the situation to Alice over the phone.

Bette is still in a daze.

Alice: (line) Okay, thanks. We will be there soon.

Alice hangs up the phone.

Alice: Bette?

Alice jerks Bette on her shoulders.

Alice: Bette, listen up. Tinas okay now, alright? Her condition has stabilized.

Bette looks up as tears stream down from her eyes.

Bette: (crying) Im such a damn ***** *****

Bette starts to think shes the cause of it.

Alice: (serious) This is not the time to lose control, Bette. Tina needs you now! You cannot be seeing her like this right? I will not bring you if you do. You have to be strong first before you can take care of her!

Bette looks at Alice for a minute. Thereafter, she wipes off her tears using her palms and tucks in her hair. She then takes a deep breath.

Bette: Youre right, Alice. Im ready to go.

(At the hospital)

Tina is lying on the bed, her eyes close. Her hands, each tied to the side-support of the bed. Helena is arranging a bunch of white cala lilies in a vase. Tina opens her eyes. She turns her head and sees Helena. Helena is busy with the flowers and did not notice Tina looking at her.

Tina: Thanks.

Helena turns to face Tina. She smiles.

Helena: Youre awake. How are you feeling?

Tina did not reply. For a moment, she imagines Bette standing in front of her.

Tina: Come here.

Helena is surprised at Tinas request. She walks up to Tina anyway.

Tina: Can you remove them?

Tina moves her eyes to the cloths that are tying her hands.

Helena: Err, I do not think .

Tina: Please.

Tina begs as she looks into Helenas eyes. Helena can feel her heart melting. She cannot resist this woman in front of her. She pauses for a second. Thereafter, she sits onto the bed and reaches her hands to Tinas wrists. She unties the knots.

Tina: (smiles) Thanks.

Tina slowly moves her wrists in a circular motion as her hands unbound.

Helena: I do not know whether this is right. The doctor is going to tie me up instead if he finds out.

Helena chuckles as she unknowingly places her hand onto Tinas knee. Tina feels a sudden emptiness in her heart. This woman is reminding her too much of Bette. Tina raises her left hand and touches Helenas face. She then rests it onto Helenas face. Helena feels her heart pounding hard. Their eyes interlocked as tension filled the room.

(Meanwhile at the hospital lobby.)

Alice: Okay Bette, you go up first while I wait for Dana and Shane to arrive. Shes in Ward 508.

Bette nodded and walks towards the lift.

Alice: Remember, control.

Bette enters the lift. The lift ascended and stops at the 5th level. Bette walks out. She glances through the ward number. 501, 502, 503 .

As Bette is getting nearer to Tinas ward, her plams become sweaty. Throughout the journey here, she has been thinking and practicing what to say to Tina. Now that she is here, her mind suddenly turns empty.

(Inside Tinas ward)

Tina looks at Helena tenderly. Her hand is caressing Helenas face. Bette… her heart is saying as she gently pulls Helena towards her. Their faces are getting real close now, their lips almost touching.

(Outside the ward)

Bette reaches for the door handle.
