Rod Stewart – Broken Arrow

The late night hours of the evening can be the most perplexing of the entire day.  The rampant running of emotions can be high during this time and it’s no different outside the door to Leigh’s apartment as she, Dax and Carmen stand across from Helena.  Helena’s head rests against the door as they approach.

Helena: …I need to speak to you…

Leigh: Helena…what’s wrong…?

Dax’s eyes constantly shift between the other three ladies, wondering what’s about to happen.

Helena: …Not you.  Carmen…

Carmen slowly walks up to Helena and places her right arm around Helena’s shoulders before bringing her away from the door and closer to herself.  Helena looks at Carmen.  Carmen’s voice is almost reduced to a whisper.

Carmen: What’s up…?

Helena straighens herself up and now stands face to face with Carmen.

Helena: We need to discuss this.

Dax: Um….listen…this has been fun and everything, but….I think I’m gonna turn in for the evening.

Leigh looks over at Dax.

Leigh: You’re leaving?

Dax leans over to Leigh.

Dax: Hit me up tomorrow.

Dax walks away, headed to her own apartment nearby in the complex.  Leigh stands with her arms folded, worried about the situation unfolding.

Carmen: You wanna talk here?

Leigh: Um…let’s go inside, guys.

Helena turns away from Carmen, but not quite all the way to Leigh.

Helena: Tell me how you both feel right now…

Leigh: Honestly, Helena?  I’m feeling pretty damn confused right about now.

Leigh looks at Carmen, who doesn’t look back.

Carmen: This is getting a little too intense.  I’m sorry, Leigh, but….this isn’t going to work out.

Carmen looks up at Leigh, full of sorrow.  Leigh walks up to Carmen and the two embrace.

Leigh: …I understand.

The two let go and Leigh turns to Helena.

Leigh: I need to lay down.  There’s obviously a deeper issue here that doesn’t involve me.

Leigh reaches over and kisses Helena on her right cheek.

Leigh: Congratulations on the new job.

Leigh smiles and unlocks the door to her home.

Leigh: Good night.

She closes the door behind her.  Helena and Carmen now look at one another.

Helena: Did you drive here or…

Carmen: I rode with them.  My car’s back at The Planet.
