The One Thing That Stays Mine
Alice was never a woman of patience and this time was no different. She had been waiting on her oldest friend for over thirty minutes now and was just about to leave when a whirlwind of messy brunette locks and wise brown eyes plopped down in the seat across from her.
"Hey"
"Hey? Thirty minutes of me sitting here, all by myself waiting for you upon your request, and I get a ‘Hey’" Alice looked on impatiently.
Shane shrugged her shoulders and smiled sleepily at the blonde. "I love you?"
"You love me??? Is that the best you got?"
"So so much???" Shane added as her smile widened.
Alice pretended to be annoyed but she had always had a soft spot for her skinny friend. She sighed and threw her hands up in defeat.
"I know. I know. They all do." She stated dramatically. "Why am I here McCutcheon?"
Shane took a deep breath and wished she had grabbed a coffee first. The writer was much to perky and awake for her taste.
"I need a favor. And it will help you too. Get your mind off of a certain athlete?" She trailed off with a sad smile.
"Shane, I’m not going to call one of your randoms and dump them for you. That’s no fun at all." Alice laughed as she was flipped off and then smiled softly at her friend. "What do you need? And I’m totally over Dana. She made her choice and although, initially, I may have reacted a bit out of character, I can honestly say that I hope she’s happy."
Shane took a deep breath and smiled back at the writer, not buying her brave front for a minute, but loving her even more for trying. Shane loved Alice for many reasons, but her loyalty and her strength is what initially drew her to the blonde. She was a good enough person to deserve, only the best, but she never cared for that. She gave everyone the same chance to get to know her, no matter who you were. Her break up with Dana had been painful and let her feeling betrayed and abused. She had spent many nights crying her eyes out in Shane’s arms and drinking herself into oblivion, but she was on the mend. Her sparkle was slowly coming back and Shane couldn’t have been prouder. She had wondered several times what would possess a person to let go of something so special, but people had a way of taking things for granted and she supposed Dana was no different. Shane was sure that she would’ve been unable to do such a thing, were she ever to be so lucky. Her friendship with Alice alone was worth more to her then any romantic relationship she had ever found herself in. True, she hadn’t had many "relationships" in her life. She was too emotionally closed off to go down that road. She’d seen too much and simply chose to avoid matters of love all together. That didn’t mean that she couldn’t recognize a true heart when she saw one, and that was the best way to describe her best friend. She was just good. Too good infact. And Shane was grateful.
"Well that’s great Al. I’m really proud of you. You deserve better anyway." She winked at her friend trying to lighten the mood a bit. "Anyway, I have to go to this hoity toity dinner for a client, which should be really good for my career but I need a date and it’s kinda last minute and Lord knows I’ve been in enough trouble with my hook ups as of late…"
Alice stared at her for a moment with an unreadable expression and before Shane knew what happened, she had been punched in the arm…much harder then one would expect.
"Ouch!" She yelped.
"Are you freaking serious!?! You show up late to ask me on a date because you can’t find anyone else to go??? Or rather anyone else that’s sane? Such a romantic." Alice finished dryly.
"Who said you were sane? And is that a no?"
"That’s a, hell the fuck no, and the middle finger for good measure, smart ass." Alice finished, taking another sip of her coffee.

great start and I can’t wait to see what will happen next pps
I’m a Danish gal, but, you have me very intrigued with this pairing. I look forward to taking the ride with you. I am happy to see that Alice, while not over Dana completely, is not off the deep end. The conversation between Shane and Alice was written perfectly. Alice was so funny making the deal. And the part about Alice’s rack was pretty funny — and very true. I am looking forward to the party. Thanks so much for the new story, suzieb_33!!
Wicked cool
All I’m saying is if you just give Farscape a chance, you never know how much you’ll like it. And Alice in a sexy black dress, cleavage AND a massage? That’s not a weekend, that’s a lifetime committment! Looking forward to your next…so do it soon, will ya?
*grins* Yay for you being back!! And yay for this. Uber-cuteness, me likey.
Looks like I’m the only one who thinks this pairing is gross, gross, gross! This will never happen on the show, or at least I hope not…You’re a great writer, too bad you’re wasting your talent on shalice, especially since you are/used to be a Danish fan :(
