    The Police

At first, the man at the front desk of the police station seemed merely bothered by the mention of a possible stalker. When another officer came to the counter, however, the situation changed. He was entirely more diligent and thorough.

“We take these threats very seriously,” he insisted in a flat tone of voice, and yet purposeful just the same. He was filling out paperwork as he spoke in his deep tone, glancing up to see the worry on Tina’s face. “It was good of you to come in. I know these things can be very difficult.”

He had seen people before with the same issue, and he liked to know he was doing all he could. While he had never seen a case turn terribly violent, he also wasn’t with the threat management unit, and he had heard some horror stories. The brunette who stood at Tina’s side, though assured, seemed vulnerable too.

When neither woman said anything back, he continued: “I’ll fill out all of this with the information you’ve given me, and we’ll be in touch with you if we hear of anything. Make sure to keep conscious of who’s around you, and Bette – don’t underestimate this person. I know that’s an easy thing to do, but it could be dangerous. And make sure not to talk with her or pay her any attention– it will only encourage her. And again, keep everything she’s left for evidence, and
we’ll drop it into the file, alright?”

“Is she … likely to come back?” Tina asked quietly, reminding the man of his own wife at home. He felt for the quieter blond, trying his best to soothe her concerns as he hoped someone would if his spouse were in danger.

“It’s very hard to say at this point, but it’s safe to take precautions, just as you’ve told Bette on a number of occasions as you’ve listed. Those are all great. You look out for her, I see.”
Bette sighed, feeling guilty for having brushed off the concerns at first.

“I’m Officer Bael, if you need anything else, ladies. It’s always good to remember who you talked to down here, in case the paperwork gets shuffled around,” he smiled, looking up to them at last. “And here’s to hoping we can file it away soon, huh?”

    1. I don’t trust the lady cop, Annette Mackerig. “And it’s common for a relationship to get a little jumbled with something like this put in the middle of it…” sounds suspicious. And please, oh please don’t have them get a dog and have the “Tina” stalker hurt the dog! That flips me out! Trusting you, GR…trusting…sweaty hands, but trusting…

    2. wow! it’s more exciting and I enjoy every minute of it!
It seems both of them are starting to really take seriously the threat. how she got into the house? -sealed doors and windows …
the dog and the alarm is really a good idea.
but now I remembered a quote from the CSI series: “who really wants to hurt you, despite all the protection …”
but I hope here will not like this, and manages to stop her before Bette fears to be true.
      Thanks GrindRight

    3. Something is rotten in the state of Denmark…

      Suspect everyone! Trust nothing!

The other Tina, she of the shaggy hair and cableperson knocking out ways, is wreaking havoc and making everyone paranoid. I hope neither Bette nor (the real) Tina do anything daft like purchase a gun in an effort to feel “safe”…

      Thanks for the post!

    4. Thanks GR for another new story :) I just manage to catch up, kinda need to surf to adapt to the new site, so I just found out about this story last night. Anyway, this story makes me think the worst. It’s possible that “Tina” is installing CCTV at their home or put bugs here and there including Bette’s office! And for her to even made the real cable guy unconscious means she is a serious wacko. And that officer who visited them, what is she?! Such a funny comment to give. I think everyone is the suspects now! >.< ppvs and thanks! ;)
