the restaurant n times – chapter seven

Bette would never treat me like Samantha had. She would never ever have burned me like Samantha had. Tina was starting to think it was a bad idea to have encouraged Bette to attend the Times party now. She didn’t want to run into Samantha, but really she didn’t want to have to explain her to Bette. They had shared many things with each other but this was a topic Tina wasn’t comfortable with sharing no matter how much she loved and trusted Bette.  This was all beginning to be too much for her and it was bringing back horrible memories that she had tried long and hard to rid of.

Tina was staring up at the ceiling in deep thought. She was lying beside Bette who was still sleeping. It was Friday and they had decided to take the rest of the day off from work only before checking in with Jenny and Helena at the restaurant.  They were intending to go home for a quick nap but instead ended up in bed making love.

Tina felt Bette stirring. She looked to the clock on the night stand and read six o’clock. The party was at eight they’d need to get up and get ready soon.

“Wakey! Wakey!” Tina said excitedly. Bette shot an eye open.

    “Time?”

    “Six.”

    “Five more?” she asked.

“Hmm…three more minutes and I’ll wake you up, baby.” Tina kissed Bette on the lips and stared down at her girlfriend she loved so much.

She thought about telling Bette that she wasn’t feeling well to attend the party, but Bette had already expressed her excitement to  reunite with her ex coworkers at the Times. Tina didn’t want to take that away from Bette. But then how many sponsors ever actually show up to these parties? Probably next to none, right? Tina had decided then and there that she’d put it past her and stop worrying about Samantha showing her ugly face.

“Bette wake up, it’s time to get ready.” She kissed the pulse points on her neck.

     “Tee not fair!” Bette moaned

Tina chuckled. She got up off the bed, pulling the covers to the ground.
