The Roommates – 2nd Dimension: Chapter 61
The flushed blonde couldn’t fight the grin that tugged at the corners of her mouth. “Thanks,” she whispered.
“You have so much talent, Sid. You’ve got to go with this.”
“You really think so?”
Bette shot her a knowing look. “Come on. Don’t give me that false humility. This is good and you know it.”
“I know it’s good. But I’ve always pictured myself as more of the gallerist, the curator. Not the artist. Artists are so damn temperamental.”
Bette smiled softly. “And you’re not?”
“No.”
“Oh. Okay. Well, I think you should think about it. I can do a little work, but I can’t get the depth you’ve got here. I feel like I just relived this scene. My drawings would be like stick figures compared to yours.”
Sidney rolled her eyes. “Now you’re really laying it on thick.”
“I’m serious. It’s great, Sid. What do you call it?” asked Bette.
“’Through Her Eyes – Revelations in the Night’”, Sidney replied.
Brown eyes met blue eyes. “That’s perfect.”
“I know.”
“Do you have any others?” asked Bette.
The blossoming artist threw her ex-girlfriend a small smile before rolling up her drawing. “I have a few.”
“Can I see them?” asked Bette.
“Uh…I don’t know.”
“Why? Are you shy now?”
“I’m not shy. I’m just a little self conscious,” Sidney replied.
Bette’s eyes grew wide and she whispered, “Oh my God. You drew me naked, didn’t you?”
“I didn’t draw you naked.”
Bette exhaled. “Thank God.”
“You’re just….partially clothed.”
“Sidney. You didn’t.”
“I needed to. It was all very therapeutic.”
“Well, can I at least see my partially clothed self?”
“Please don’t freak out on me, okay?”
“I’ll try not to,” Bette replied.
Sidney finished rolling the drawing and put it away. She pulled out another and said, “Remember, no freaking out.”
Bette nodded. “I got it. Just let me see.”
Sidney rolled out the drawing paper and Bette was amazed once more.
“I call this one, ‘Through My Eyes – Lost and Found’”.
Bette’s dark eyes traversed the heavy charcoal strokes. On the lower right side was the profile of Sidney’s head. She was painting a portrait of Bette and her gaze was directed to the left side of the drawing. On that side, Bette stood naked. Tina was holding her from behind and Tina’s hands and arms covered all of the intimate parts of Bette’s body. Bette’s chin was set in anger, her eyes directed away, refusing to look at Sidney. Tina stared in Sidney’s direction, anger in her gaze.

I hope no one ever wants to draw me naked and call it art. It would be damn scary.

Gosh!! I am so glad they are still whispering. Was so ready for Bette and Tina to talk, but I definitely enjoyed this chapter between Tina and Courtney’s mother. Loved that Tina finally admitted her true feelings. Looking forward to see how Tina makes it up to Bette! PPS!!!

Geesh! It’s not like Tina skipped the meeting to go meet friends for drinks, or to go shopping…she is going to try to help a little girl who was sexually molested!! Somehow I think that is more important than being there at the election so she can hold Bette’s hand and tell her how wonderful she is! Thanks for bringing this great story back to us!!

I think Syd is trying to ease her way back into Bette’s life. She is playing the tortured artist while T is wraped up in other things and is neglecting Bette a bit. I hope thier love is strong enough to keep them together.

Hey MTS< WOnderful. Truly heart-warming and heart breaking. The impact of Sidney's insight into Bette and Tina as well as her own memories of her time with Bette showed such depth. There was resilence and sorrow at realizing the opportunity she missed. I can completely understand Bette's desire to destroy these intimate portraits and need to show the world the wonder of Sidney's art. The gals shared a moment; of past and long lost love. Thank you for bringing a tear to my eye. You create the emotional hit of Sidney's sketches with your words. Thank you for sharing them with me. Your Loyal Fan.

hey morethan….. this is one of the first stories i read on this site and you never dissappoint!!! great job and please keep updating. I can’t always comment, because I read at work and I’m always interrupted by silly customers! anywho, I hope Bette isn’t too upset with tina. I understand Tina not wanting to label herself, but she needs to talk to Bette about it, or it will just fester and cause problems down the line. pps
