    Final chapter.

    Even later, when Angelica came home and sat to watch with them, and their girl was obviously unaware of Darnell’s intentions to propose – a proposal she would accept with all the happiness she’d ever felt. And Bette and Tina exchanged a knowing glance when she mentioned his name, because they were so happy for her. It was a strange sort of thing, their love. So perfect.

    “Don’t have a shower! Check your apartment first!” Angelica shouted at the television while Tina chuckled and Bette simply smiled at the real aggravation in the girl’s voice. “Oh, come on! The one time you should be paranoid!”

    Angelica was never one to be scared by thrillers, but she was agitated with the protagonist’s helpless sense of logic. She grumbled to herself then, too, and crossed her arms just as a man popped out wielding some sort of weapon.

    Tina screamed and brought her hands up to cover her mouth as Angelica chuckled at her mother. Bette tried not to laugh at Tina’s adorable array of reactions to what she found predictable, and slipped onto the other end of the couch to put her arm around Tina.

    Angelica made popcorn, truly enjoying spending the time with her mothers that she would soon have to schedule into her weeks. But while she was still living at home, she would take full advantage.

    And when she brought the snack out, she just watched for a moment in the dark – a smile on her face – as Bette held her mother. They seemed so content and at peace, even as terrified as Tina certainly was.

    “Tell me what’s happening,” Tina said, muffled as she’d hid her face in Bette’s shoulder. And for once, Angelica realized that her mother had probably always been terrified of suspenseful films. All that time ago, Tina had to be strong for Angelica, but now she had Bette. And Angelica could see the comfort Tina obviously felt, trying to be brave, and knowing she didn’t have to be. It was a beautiful, eye-opening moment for Angelica, who decided to take it easy on her mother, who had sacrificed and cared for her all her life.

    “Mom? … Do you want some popcorn?”

    Tina reached out blindly, and Angelica chuckled, moving the bowl closer.

    “Thanks hunny,” Tina smiled, bringing her hand up to her mouth to eat it.

    Angelica smiled and sat back, thinking of all she’d done for her mother in return, and all she’d tried to do. “You’re welcome.”

    It was comforting, sitting next to her mothers. Rolling her eyes at Tina’s over-reactions to the film, and smiling at Bette’s supportive words. It was inspiring to see two people who loved each other so much. They had showed Angelica unconditional love, and shared it with one another. They had inspired her to find her own happiness, as complicated or as simple as it might be.

    Angelica relaxed, watched the film, and fell asleep there on the couch like she did as a little girl – much adored by her two mothers – because some things just never change.

    3. I really enjoyed this story. I was however thinking that at some point that Angie’s “sperm donor”, was going to make an appearance and try to start trouble for Tina and Bette, and that we would really see how Angie had grown to love Bette, and start to call her Mom or her Mama B. But as it was written, I truly still did love it dearly. Thank You so much. Looking forward to another one of your stories.

Hi there GrindRight! nice ending to a great story, compelling from the first chapter, with characters full of emotions and unforgettable dialogues.I really admire you, I love the way you tell your story, when you want to convey something, you do it with your writing very easy and that is just because you have talent.I can not stand the urge to read a new story of yours.Reading “Fifty shades of Grey”, you’ve read it?, I could not help imagining a version of it with Bette and Tina of course written by you,what do you think? the Fifty shades of Porter.I would die if you do it,but after of read it! hahahaha!

I am just now escaping the arms of someonewho doesn’t belong to me. I’m grateful that I didn’t get caught inEurope. (Mercy), you are most definitely an amazing writing. “The Set Up”, althoughthis literally happened to me while reading your story, I also hate that it’sending.
