As Tina proceeded before me for some reason I happened to look over at Alice and Shane. They both had their thumbs up nodding their head up and down. I smiled and shook my head. We walked over to the car and got in. Tina pulled out of the parking lot and drove down the street. Tina asked

“where do you live?” she looks over at me

We were approaching my housing complex on the right. I directed her and said “right here in this housing complex”

She chuckled and pulled inside and entered through the gate. She said “your one lucky girl” she then said “to be this close would be a blessing to me”

I didn’t respond to her comment. And neither did Shane or Alice. We knew what it was like to live over here. The constant shootings, drugs, thefts, and maybe a few suicides. This area was dangerous. But it was also my home. Sometimes you have to stick with what you have until you you get that chance to leave. Move up in the world. Accompish your dream and mine is ball Basketball is my life and I intended on using my talent to the fullest I can possibly go.

We pulled up in front of my house. And we all got out the car. Tina smiles and says ” you live by the beach?” she turns and faces me

I smiled and said “yeah, come on” I extended my hand and she walks over and takes it. I approached the front door and unlocked it. We head inside. I yelled out loud “ma, I’m home”

Alice and Shane head into the kitchen. My mother comes down the stairs looking quite stunning. I couldn’t believe it was her. It felt good to know she hasn’t lost her touch. Shane and Alice whistle out loud from the kitchen. My mother smiles and turns around in a circle and strucks a pose. Tina and I shared a laugh together. My mother laughed out loud and walked over towards us. My mother said

“hello” looking at Tina and extending her hand

Tina smiles and says “hi I’m Tina, you have a beautiful home” she looks around the room

Bette’s mother smiles and says “thank you” she looks over at me and says “she’s beautiful sweetie”
