The Story of Shane: In Transition 1
Eat, eat. You are skin and bones. You too Jay.
The two find a corner in the spacious kitchen and dig in. Food was a wonderful comfort in their empty stomach.
That hits the spot, Shane thought with satisfaction.
Meg ambled over with two more plates in hand, spaghetti this time.
Shane looked at her plate and for the first time doubting if she could finish a meal. That bowl of stew was huge and this seemed even bigger.
Jay laughed at Shanes look of shock from the monstrous size of the plate. Better eat up or she will never feed us again. He proceeded to follow his words and Shane did the same.
God, I have never been so full in my entire life. Shane leaned back against the wall, not knowing if she could move anytime soon.
Jay did not seem to have a problem however as he stood up, so Shane reluctantly did the same. They carried their plates toward the washer that was already cranked up for the night.
So Meg, Shane here wanted to help out for the night. Do you have anything for her?
You know I always do. Meg looked at Shane up and down, measuring her strength. A few more dinner here and you will be just fine. All right Shane, you will help me man the kitchen tonight. Jay, you better get out there, and dont worry Shane is in good hand.
A few hours later, Shane was exhausted. Meg had her run around the whole kitchen pretty much nonstop, and Meg was right there by her side too. Shane looked at her working and did not know how she has not collapsed from exhaustion. No matter how tired she was, Shane did not complainshe was happy to help.
Shane could you bring these orders out front.
Shane immediately complied, and Meg could not help but smile as Shane made her way out. That kid is a hard worker. It did not escape Meg that Shane was pretty tired from all of the work, and it made her admire Shane even more for not complaining one bit.
When Shane came back into the kitchen, Meg waved her to sit down. Rest hun, you deserved it.
