The Story of Shane: The Beginning 13
The morning passed to afternoon, and Shane continued to watch those around her. More importantly however, Shane was trying to think of what she was going to say to Ron. Maybe a letter would be better. Shane looked around the duffle bag and came up with a pen but no paper. Shane looked around the park, searching for anything that would serve her purpose. She spotted a brown paper bag. That will do.
The Letter
Ron,
So much has happened in such a short period of time, and there are so much that I have to explain. Since Im never really good at verbalizing my feelings, I thought that this letter of sort would suffice.
More than anything I want to say that I love you. The way that I behaved the last week that we were together may not seemed like it to you but it was done out of love.
When we made love, it was the best and most wonderful thing that I have ever experienced. That day was the best and worst day of my life. Best because for the first time, I believed in happily ever after. Worst because I knew that I have to give you up. Im so sorry that I was not there to protect you from Jake. He should not have the opportunity to get near you, and Im at fault for that. I knew then that I could not protect you as I should.
Ron, you deserve the best that life could offer, and so I knew that you should be adopted. I didnt want to tell you because I was afraid. I was afraid that if you refused, I would not be strong enough to let you go. Instead, I took that choice from you and drove you away from me. Please believe me when I say that the girl that you saw me with meant nothing. It was all a show on my part.
Im sorry that I hurt you, but know that my heart belongs to you for always. Have a good life my love and remember me.
Forever yours,
Shane
She sat there in the park and continued to wait. It was 3:30 PM now, and Ron should be back soon. Then she saw her.
Ron was walking in an easy pace on the sidewalk back to the penthouse where she now lived with Max and Emily. Shane stood up to go intercept Rons path, but then she finally noticed that Ron was not alone. Ron was walking with another girl, blond hair about Rons height. They looked happy, laughing at what each was saying.
Shane looked down at the brown paper bag in her hand and up again at Ron in the distance. Shane put the letter away. It is better that she forget about you and move on, Shane thought. Shane continued to watch as Ron entered her building, away from Shane’s world and out of Shanes reach. Shane said a final farewell in her head and walked away.
