Tina rolled over and groaned, blinking until her eyes finally opened properly. She peered over at the clock on the far side of the bed and saw that it was already past midday. Lifting herself up on her elbows, she smiled when she saw the glass of water and packet of painkillers on the bedside table. The brunette was always extra considerate when she was hungover.
She swallowed two painkiller with the water and dragged herself out of bed. Making her way through to the living room, she looked out of the window and saw that Bette had indeed taken a cab to work. She couldn’t quite believe that the brunette had willingly taken a mode of transport other than her beloved Saab.
After helping herself to what had to really be lunch rather than breakfast, she settled herself down on the sofa and pulled her phone out of her handbag. She scrolled through her phone book and found her mother’s number. Taking a deep breath, she pressed dial and waited for the call to connect.
"Christina?"
"Oh…hi Mom" the blonde was somewhat shocked that her mother had actually answered.
"I’m just in the airport dear"
"Mom there’s something I need to talk to you about before you get on the plane…"
"Sorry love I’ve got to go, they’re calling my flight. I get in late tonight so we can just talk tomorrow ok?"
"No Mom wait, I need to…"
Before Tina could finish her sentence her mother had hung up. She sat with her head in her hands. For all the good will in the world, she couldn’t seem to rectify the situation that she found herself in. She tried dialling her mother’s number again, but it went straight to answerphone. She’d obviously switched the phone off so that she could board the plane.
She knew now that there was going to be no easy way out of tomorrow’s wedding. Could she really call it off dramatically at the last minute? Although she had come to realise that she wasn’t IN love with Henry, she still didn’t want to make a fool out of him. But she couldn’t make a decision before she spoke to her mother to see if she could make her understand. And she had less than 24 hours to do so. So for now, she still had a wedding to prepare for.

Whoa — This emotional rollercoaster ride is so intense! I’m trying to imagine how it’s going to play out and I’m pulling for Tina to be brave and do the right thing. If she does call off the wedding and choose Bette, I hope you’ll consider NOT stopping it there… I’m really enjoying the story. Thanks.

I am curious (don’t ask me why), did Bette really sleep w/ that chick from the bar that she was using to make Tina jealous (like 5 chapters ago). Like i said, just curious. Heartbreaking post. I just had a thought. The title is “The Wedding” and I just thought that you will have Tina marry him! Like your previous story: you stopped when everybody knew about the affair because of the title! OH Fuck!!! I will never sleep now! Great job girl and thank you for sharing
I know that Henry is going to be hurt when Tina breaks up with him. But if Tina claims to love him, then it will hurt even more to find out someone marrying you to please her mother. I really hope the wedding does take place, but with Bette taking her rightful place as Tina’s wife.

Tina, you’re on the cusp of consigning yourself to a life of less than, and thinking Bette’s going to be there to pick up scraps. Grow a pair and do the right thing! The wedding is nigh and nothing’s been done, and now Henry, who she so badly didn’t want to hurt, has no other fate than to be jilted on his wedding day… It’s all screwed now, and she had the chance to do it the right way. I’m looking forward to d-day. Thanks for the post. :)
Thank you for the update. Please post soon!!! Okay….I love Tina like I said she is my favorite but how can she keep hurting Bette like this. I feel the pain that Bette is in when I read every word. I know they will have to have a happy ending but how far will Tina take this before she has had enough and same goes for Bette how long will she allow Tina to control her heart when all Tina is doing is breaking it more and more. Great writer! Thanks for this story. I hope some where down the road Tina and Bette are planning their wedding. :)

Just don’t know what to say about this, so we will wait and see what happens. Their union in this chapter was so heartbreaking. Have read all the comments before me and some of them have very interesting scenarios. But we’ll just wait and see. One reader asked that the story go on beyond the Wedding and so do I because there is so much that can be said in this story about their love. I’ve exhausted all my hopes, wishes and desires for them. Great update. Thanks for posting.
