    Tina couldn’t remember a time in her life when she was so in awe of another’s body. Sure she noticed when an attractive woman walked by, but the attraction had been more of, ‘I wish I looked like her’, rather than ‘I wish I was on top of her’…

     

     

     

     

    CHAPTER 12

     

    Bette pulled up to Tina’s apartment, shut of the engine, and took a deep breath.  Her heart beat furiously and she was more nervous than she had been the entire two months she had been with Tina.  Innocent flirting was one thing, though it hadn’t been all that innocent on her part.  This was an honest to goodness date – their first date, and most importantly, Tina’s first date with a woman.  Bette took another breath and walked up the path toward Tina’s door, a familiar path to be sure, but this time it felt like she was headed into the unknown.  Bette rang the bell and smoothed out her dress.

    Tina stood in the bedroom, staring at herself in the long mirror with a critical eye.  She chose the outfit carefully, listening to Kate’s suggestions.  Kate, who had been there just a half hour earlier, could do nothing to calm Tina’s nerves.  Tina couldn’t remember the last time she had been on a first date.  Five years is long time to be out of the dating scene; and with Bette, this was completely uncharted territory.  Tina had finally settled on a black button down dress and black heels.  Kate pointed out that the dress’ two highlights –  that it ended about an inch or two above the knee and had the ability to go as low cleavage wise as Tina was brave enough to go – would undoubtedly meet Bette’s approval.  Tina hoped she was right.  Tina jumped at the sound of the doorbell.  Sexy, not stupid, she murmured to herself, hoping the little pep talk would calm her nerves.  It didn’t.

    Tina took a moment to collect herself and opened the front door, totally unprepared for the sight before her,

     

    “Wow,” was all she could think to say.  So much for not being stupid.

     

    Bette laughed softly and blushed, “Wow, yourself,” she smiled, “You look very beautiful.”

     

    “So do you.”  Tina couldn’t take her eyes off Bette.  For the first time in her life, she was exhibiting the very behavior she detested in men.  She was ogling her date, from head to toe. 

     

    Bette stared at Tina with amusement, ‘She’s checking me out’, she thought to herself.  This simple gesture somehow calmed Bette’s nerves, “You ready to go?”  Bette held out her hand.

    12. Only just found this story and caught up. I’m really enjoying it – a different angle to the way they met, and so sweet with all their excitement. I love that Tina is so unsure but bold at the same time – brave! Great job, and can’t wait for more!
