    Previously: “I’m sorry Alice. I fell in love with someone else. I don’t know how and why, but it is true. And she’s right here at this table. It’s Tina. I’m in love with Tina.”

    It felt really good to finally say it and have it out in the open, if even for a second. To admit her love for the blonde sitting across from her.

    The whole table was silent. The tension cackled visibly in the air. Bette could hear her heart hammering in her chest.

    Eric frowned. Alice sat with a stunned expression on her face.

    Tina stared at Bette, shocked by her admission. She had no idea that Bette would drop a bombshell like that on them during dinner. It was irresponsible and stupid. Maybe the champagne was getting to her head. She loved Bette with everything inside her and more but she wasn’t ready to face the consequences of her actions just yet. Belatedly, she realized she may never be ready.

    Bette saw the hesitancy and fear in Tina. Next to her, Eric was ready to pounce from his chair and punch her. She turned and saw Alice giving her what could be described as a pained expression. She looked at Jack, who had been rendered speechless by her statement.

    She smiled slowly at him.

    “What happened Jack? No sense of humor?”

    She chuckled then.

    “Live a little, people. I was just joking.”

    Everyone at the table reacted simultaneously.

    “Bette!” Alice smacked her with a napkin, twice.

    “Dude, you are just crazy. What are you smoking?” Eric laughed nervously as the tension broke in the air.

    Bette chuckled along, kissing Alice on the cheek, who pushed her away.

    Tina sighed with relief.

    Jack was quiet. He looked at Bette intently and then back at Tina who was avoiding his gaze and looking down at her plate silently.

    “Good joke, Bette. Good joke,” he said quietly.

    Tina looked up at him then and their gaze locked briefly. He saw fear in her hazel eyes. He saw sorrow.

    He also saw love.

    “You know Tina, I think Bette really is in love with you.”

    Tina was drowsing off to sleep beside Eric after that awkward dinner. His statement jolted her awake.

    5. Gret updates Maverick. Was just now able to catch up with the updates and enjoyed them all very much. In the last chapter Bette certainly left a bombshell during dinner, so now when she tells Alice for real she will not be shocked by the revelation and neither will Eric.Eric’s father knew it was the truth, I’m sure he will be talking to Tina very soon. Can hardly wait till the truth comes out and they can be free to love each other without hsving to sneak around. Sneaking around is very stressful and Tina doesn’t need that in her life while pregnant. Thanks so much for the updates.
