#3 TOUCH TONE: The Ringer – Tina Kennard L Word

I twist the ring off my finger and press it securely inside the red Cartier box that rests in my lap. In just six hours this will all be over and maybe for the cameras Bette will slide it back on my finger and we can give them several minutes of beaming smiles and smack Jenny Schecter down a few notches in the process. I zip the ring into a small pocket inside my purse, slip my briefcase over my shoulder, and take the first step toward beginning a very long day.
Joyce’s Office – Monday 10 am
”Well, like most people who walk in here on a Monday morning you’ll likely be telling me things after the fact.” Joyce rocks in her chair. ”Speaking of which, thank you for paying the computer geek’s bill so quickly to resolve your hot oil photo fiasco.”
”You’re welcome, Joyce. When I finally realized there was no other way I gave up being pissed about his fees and stroked the check. The vacuuming out of six thousand dollars left me hurt though.” Joyce shrugs her shoulders that some things are just unavoidable.
I settle my gaze on her. ”Joyce, this is part business, and I need a trusted matter of fact adult to talk to.” I look at her and she doesn’t blink. ”And if you want to bill me for the hour, okay. There is some work you can do for me.”
”Now, you’re talking.” Joyce claps her hands together and rubs them in anticipation. ”What have you gotten yourself into this time? I’m ready for more Bette Porter drama. Lay it on me.”
”I’m marrying Tina.” I smile quickly up at Joyce. ”I asked her on Friday night.”
”Well, that had to be a relief!” Joyce barks out a laugh. ”But in all seriousness, congratulations. You two walked the long road out of hell to get here.”
”The smells of burning sulphur I won’t miss.” I laugh sourly to myself.
”Great time to do it! The state legalized it a few weeks ago on June 16. I’m sure you know that.”
Before Joyce hits the intercom button on her phone she asks, ”Do you want some coffee? A late breakfast? We have bagels, muffins and stuff sent in every morning.”

Brilliant ! I loved We-Ho but this Season 7 promises to be Fantastic! This chapter is so great – I hear Bette as I read of so clearly and Joyce what a hoot!
My favourite couple plus a great version of Joyce plus a nod to Hitchcock and Brandy – what more could I want – Answer – another Chapter please soon!

Gosh, loved that chapter. Too bad IC couldn’t come up with something similar to give us, it would have been awesome. Of course, she couldn’t really do that because Jenny was patterned after her own life, so she siad in interviews. Blackbird, you’re awesome. Thanks for posting.

Just finally caught up with your latest installment. And as promised I would leave a comment. You have always amazed me with your writing and i also like the pics.
How I wish that there was really a season 7 where Jenny didn’t die bcoz when she died in S6, the show also ended with a lot of questions most esp. if someone killed her or she must have just fall by her own doing.
Anyway, thanks for exploring this for us. I am excited for their announcement and of course I’m also looking forward for Bette’s reunion with her mom.

Ok first off I have to apologise for missing this story I don’t know why but I by passed it for some reason anyway iv spend the weekend reading it from the beginning and I didn’t want to leave a message until I was all caught up ok so here goes absolutely loved it and as it goes on it just gets better and im loving all the twists and turns and im so pleased you got to put jenny in here place lol great so im looking forward to the next chapter so pps.
