Tina’s Poem to Bette
Carefully placed on her pillow in her now empty room, Bette finds a carefully folded piece of paper… It’s from Tina..
You are crushed beneath yourself
I give you nothing & it crushes you
If you steal what might have been given
No maiden will come looking for it back.
A gift I would give as a gift
Would never be so poisonous & deadening to a soul
You do need a saviour
Though you miss the one who might save you.
Her health fails
Her eyes close
Her heart does not explode
It has been numb for longer than ever.
What will happen when I tell you how hard it has been to be with you
And feel nothing of which you speak?
Your heart might kick over begin even to idol?
At that moment a part of you will stop idling
Perhaps.
You do not love yourself
Crushed, you admire what you cannot see in yourself
And so you are crushed.
I don’t want it to be such
At all, I am weary of it
I want to be the admirer
But everything in this world seems so dead
No,
I can’t rest at all
There are no arms to rest in
And that just might be how it is.
Nothing sounds nice to me
It sounds beautiful to me.
My words of few
My few haven’t harmed more than the dreams of a vampire
They have been open and unassuming
That is how I talk.
If your ears hear death
Then don’t come near
But you will have walked away from a trusting hand
If you stay and try to block out the screams
I really will have said nothing to you.
You are not a lover, no
If you cannot love yourself.
Silent is the woman
That love could not give
She is silent
As silent as an image
Of a loveless girl
I know you loved me,
But you love like love is a sin.

I, like the others, didn’t really get it at first until i read it and re-read it. I think you have a huge talent. Poetry doesn’t always come across the way the writer means it to, the beauty of it, is the way it effects and is interpreted by the individal. Well done x
I wish I could say good or bad, but quite frankly I don’t know where you were going with this. Is this a letter from angry / bitter Tina? IMO, some things are better left un-said and I hope like hell to NEVER have this kind of letter placed on a pillow for me…..but that’s just me. Was this letter meant to leave Bette feeling like nothing? I mean, if she wasn’t “crushed” before reading it, I’m sure she was afterwards!
Hey – like snQQpy I’m a litte confused and I’m not a poem-person, so this is not my style.
I, too, would never want a letter like this but I’m curious where you are heading with it.
well… the poem was confusing to say the least. But it was pretty. I think Tina finally realized how bad she hurt Bette, and at the same time blaming Bette.
