    Two for the Road, 5

Tina hurried through the dinning room and asked the waiter if he had a phone book. He shook his head but directed her to the restroom area. “There are public phones by the ladies room. I don’t remember seeing any, but if we have one, that’s where it will be.” Tina thanked him and walked down the long corridor.

Not finding one anywhere, she sat at the vanity and pulled her cell phone from her bag. She tried information, but the Porter estate wasn’t listed. Then it dawned on her that if anyone would have the number, it was her mother. The only question that remained, how does she convince her mother to hand it over without a lecture?

Walking back to the table, the same waiter motioned, “Excuse me, I’m sorry to bother you, but are you or anyone in your party named Tina Kennard?” Tina nervously tugged at her sleeve and said, “I’m Tina Kennard, why?”

“Splendid. There’s a phone call for you. You can take it at the concierge desk in the front. A warm smile fell across Tina’s face as she floated passed the waiter, and made her way to the desk. “I’m Tina Kennard. I was told there’s a call for me.” The gentleman pressed a button, and handed her the receiver.

Clearing her throat, she said, “This is Tina.” “Well, you weren’t hard to find at all,” said Bette.

“How did you know I’d be here?”

Bette nervously paced the terrace. “I didn’t. This is the fourth place I called. I remember hearing your mother mention a brunch, so, I took a chance.” Tina closed her eyes tightly with embarrassment. “And just how much of our conversation did you hear, exactly?”

“That’s all that comes to mind,” Bette said, smiling, causing Tina to laugh. “I guess when it comes to me you have selective memory.” Bette responded, “Actually, I don’t, and that’s why I wanted to talk to you before you left for the airport. I…I wanted to tell you that I remember…I thought you should know that I remember everything about you.”

Hope you contnue to enjoy posting, bcuz I’m certainly enjoying reading…..Curious, will we get to know their ages and why it took Bette awhile to remember Tina?

    2. Ohhh…loving the setup you’ve done. Thank goodness Tina travels…that certainly opens up the possibility of a rendezvous with Bette at some point in the NEAR future. Bette must have been kissing all the girls not to remember Tina – sounds like a young alpha in training! Or maybe Tina’s mother beat her senseless after finding the two of them. That woman needs to seriously take a chill pill… looking forward to the next post.
