Shane sat alone in a corner booth at the Planet , idly blowing bubbles into her drink through her straw. Kit walked over and watched Shane a motherly smile on her face.

“Girl, stop playing with that drink before you get tea all over my floor.”

Shane jumped startled out of her daze.

“*****, Kit.”

“Did I scare you?” Kit asked pointedly.

“Nay.” Shane smiled.

“So what are you doing here by yourself? Where’s Carmen?”

“She’s suppose to be meeting me here.” Shane glances down at her watch her face contorting into a frown.

“She actually should’ve been here by now.”

“Traffic is *****, this time of day” Kit said trying to reassure Shane that she hadn’t gotten stood up.

“Yeah.”

“Well look when she gets here will you tell her I want to talk to her if she has a minute?” Kit asked

“No problem.”

“Cool. I’ll see you honey.”

“Later Kit.”

Shane sat there for a couple minutes looking around the Planet. She reached into her coat pocket and just as she was about to dial her number Carmen pushed the doors of the Planet open. Her hair was down, and she was wearing tight blue jeans and a pink shirt that stopped just above her bellybutton revealing her tattoos. Shane sucked in her breath as the impact of Carmens beauty hit her like a tidal wave. Carmen glanced around the Planet and when she spotted Shane smiled and walked over to her.

“Hey baby.” Carmen said, giving Shane a kiss on the cheek. She sat across from Shane in the booth.

“You look…amazing.” Shane said a little breathless.

“Shane I look like this everyday. Is that suppose to be funny?…Did I just ruin a joke.” Carmen asked.

Shane chuckled to herself making Carmen even more confused.

“What?” Carmen asked laughing in spite of herself.

“Nothing, nothing. It wasn’t suppose to be a joke. I know you like this everyday…That’s the point.”

“Oh okay.”

The girls sit at the table smiling at each other. Carmen breaks the connection with a big intake of breath.

“So I’ve been thinking about our date, tomorrow.” she says.

“And?” asked Shane.

“I think that it would be a good idea.”

“Really?”Shane asked grinning from ear to ear.
