Just as she returned to Bette, the doorbell rang. Tina went to answer it and returned with Mike and Judy in tow. “What’s up sicky?” Mike asked her.
“You know, just enjoying my time away from the office.” They both laughed.
“Seriously, how are you? Do you need anything?” Mike asked again.
“Oh no, my nurse maid there is taking care of everything” she gestured to Tina.
Mike’s phone rings and he answers it. It’s someone from the PD checking on Bette. Meanwhile Tina and Judy are in the corner whispering. Judging by Judy’s expressions, Tina is telling her about Stephanie.
Mike hangs up as Tina and Judy join them. They get drinks as well and all sit around talking.
“So, am I missing anything exciting around the office?”
“No. Your incident was enough excitement for a while.”
“I guess. We got both of them right?”
“You don’t remember?” Mike questioned.
“I’m a little fuzzy. I remember chasing them into the backyard. No escape route. They turned to face me and I told them to get down. They were both unarmed, I saw them toss their sticks or whatever as we ran through the alley.”
“I heard your radio traffic. You called out when you saw them throw something.”
“They both rushed me, but the next thing I know I heard the noise and I felt this intense pain in my left shoulder. It took me a minute to realize what happened. Neither one of them could have shot me. I would have seen it coming.”
“They didn’t. The cousin of Delarosa heard you giving them orders. He came up behind you and shot you. Then apparently he hauled ass. You still got the other two. You do remember that?”
“Yeah, vaguely” Bette replied.
“They were both handcuffed when we got there.”
“Were you first on scene?”
“Yeah. They were both cuffed and you were leaning against a tree. I ran to you to see if you were ok and I saw the blood. You had blood everywhere. You don’t remember any of this?”
“Not really.”
Tina is listening intently to what Bette went through. Her face becomes pale as the story goes on. At the mention of the blood, she looks terrified herself. She gets up and walks into the house not wanting to hear any more. Jen notices this and goes after her.

Bette takes thing in a way that will so it happen Its my job.Tina take it the other way that is my life out there and where will I be without her. thanks
If I was in Bette’s shoes I’d probably crack jokes just to deal with everything. She just has to give Tina some time to get used to PD life. It’s also great that while Bette has Mike, Tina has Judy.
Can I borrow nurse Tina for a bit? Nice to see that Bette is doing better with the help from Tina and friends. Thanks for the post.
thank you for the update tonite…and bettyvhall is right tibette do handle things differenly but tina will learn to cope better as come along… thank you again for the continuece of the story..and if your an officer in real life please be carefull out there…
Something tells me this Tina will not get used to Bette being a cop…and eventually Bette will find another career…UPS is always hiring. Please post soon

I am with skycaptain, I don’t see Tina getting used to Bette being a cop but I guess we will wait and see.
Great update ldw. It will take a while but Tina will get used to a policeman’s life , but you never get oused to holding your breath when you hear sirens and that person is on duty.
I am glad that Tina has Judy to confide in. I can hardly wait until she tell Judy that she is moving in with Bette and Tina starts to put some of her personal touches on their home :o)
Tina is proabably so scared about Bette getting shot again. I don’t blame her. I feel the love she has for Bette, and i hope she never has to give Bette an ultimatum. Love this story. Post soon!
Another excellent post LDW! Glad the looney lady left them alone for awhile! Their friends are so cool. I love how they are all so close. Tina’s so sweet taking care of Bette and I don’t blame Bette a bit for waking her up…I don’t think I could have resisted T’s neck either! LOL!
I don’t think Tina will get used to the PD life but she will understand better their comments but if her love will be in dangerous she will be worry, and the friends of both are to good
Another great and sweet post. It’s so realistic this gallows humour, but Tina is no used to it, so it’s difficult for her, but as long they communicate about it everything will be ok. Typical Bette wants to make love :o))….maybe Tina can put on a little show for Bette to watch, so her shoulder won’t get strained LOL.
Idw, you’re a tease…! First I saw the summary, then the rating, and I thought, hmmm… But no, nothing! And yes, Tina, I would call that nothing!… Just kidding of course ;), you’re just being realistic and that’s great! maybe after awhile tina will get more used to cop jokes and stories but it’s always hard considering the everyday risks, so bette better be careful since now she has tina in her life
Does any parent, girlfriend, or wife ever get used to or comfortable with their loved one in such a line of work? I know I would be a complete basket case. It’s a balance beam of trust and fate that is not so easily walked. I am pleased you offered us another chapter and must request a 10-18 from you posthaste! :wink:
