What the Heart Wants
The small frame of a young woman landed on the floor with a thud. The woman sat up, trying to get out from the giant tangle of sheets. Blonde hair was sticking out in all directions. This hair belonged to Alice, of course. With a sigh, she glanced at the clock on her nightstand. Five in the morning? Ya gotta be kidding me. She said, standing up.
Alice tossed the sheets back on her bed, and walked into the bathroom. A quick hand through her hair proved that it needed to be washed. She quickly stripped of her pajamas, and turned on the hot water. The mirror showed her reflection. Large bags had formed under her eyes from days of nearly no sleep. After a few minutes, Alice remembered why the water was running. She stepped into the shower, and let the massaging water soothe her.

Alice walked into The Planet, just like every day. Dana, Tina, Bette, and Kit were sitting at a table in the corner. Alice sat in one of the vacant seats. Then, I hit the ball, and it hit Brad Pitt in the face! Dana said, giggling like a school girl, along with the others. The blonde raised an eyebrow. Dana, why was Brad Pitt at your courts? Alice asked. Dana sighed, I dont know. He was just there, Al.
Bette rolled her eyes. She leaned over to Tina, those journalists are so inquisitive. She whispered with a smile. Alice gave a small smile to the other women at the table, and stood up. She walked over to the counter, and ordered a cappuccino. She got her drink, and went back to the table. Wheres Shane? Al asked as she sat down.
Everyone shrugged. She never came in for her morning shot. Marina said as she delivered some food to the table. Alice glanced around. Wait Wasnt Kit just here? Yeah, she had to go. Tina said. Theres Shane. Marina said, pointing to the figure that just walked through the door.
Shane walked up to the counter, and sat down. She didnt even notice the other five women. The usual. She said in her low voice. After ordering, she folded her arms, and put her head down. The small group glanced at Shane, then each other. Fine, Ill go talk to her. Alice said with a sigh.
Alice got her drink, and walked to the counter. Taking a seat next to Shane, Alice poked her in the side. Shane, you ok? The darker haired woman didnt even move. Alice poked her again. Shane turned her head, glaring at Alice. Dont poke me. She seethed. Alice just shrugged. Whats wrong. Nothing. Theres something wrong.
Shane took her shot, and downed it. Theres nothing wrong. I need to go. She paused. I- I gotta client. She put her glass down, and took her bag. Bye, Al. As soon as she was there, Shane was gone.
