[While Tina and Alice are discussing the lack of ***** on the pier, Alice doesnt notice that Shane and Dana are walking up behind them.]

Shane: Hey guys!

Alice: (Turning around shocked)Hey! What are you guys doing here?

Dana: Duh, were here to help.

Alice: Oh, I didnt know you were going to be here.

Shane: Why wouldnt we be? You were sitting right there when Tina asked for our help.

Alice: (Hitting Tina in the arm)Yeah, but she didnt mention youd be here today.

Tina: (Laughing)I told you today isnt about fun.

Alice: (Leaning into Tina)You owe me for this.

Tina: (Leaning into Alice)I have a feeling youll be thanking me after today.

Shane: (Interrupting)So, what are we doing here?

Tina: This is where I want to propose to Bette and have the ceremony performed.

Dana: Its beautiful Tinaand quiet.

Tina: Thats why we like it here so much.

Dana: We! Does Bette already know about this?

Alice: No, but this is their special place.

Shane: (Smiling)How f*cking cute!

Alice: Exactly my thoughts!

Tina: Very funny guys, lets go.

Dana: Where exactly are we going?

Alice: You didnt think this was going to take place in the parking lot did you?

Dana: (Shooting Alice a look)NO!

Tina: (Chuckling with Shane)Dana, were going to pier 13, third bench from the end. There are some stairs near that that lead down to the beach.

Shane: (A little confused)But wont Bette see us when youre on the pier?

Tina: You guys will be down a little ways. After the proposal, hoping she says yes, Ill guide her to the beach for a romantic stroll.

Alice: (Rolling her eyes)You know shell say yes!

Dana: Exactly how are you getting her to the pier?

Alice: I was curious about that myself. Wont Bette question why shes all dressed and Kits taking her to the pier?

Tina: Yeah, I had to rework my plan. Heres the new one: Im going to ask Bette out on a date and specify that she look gorgeous, as usual, and request a specific outfit for her to wear. Before that Ill ask her to meet at our spot. Shell probably just think Im being romantic and never really give it a thought.

Alice: Or, shell think you want to tell her your moving back.

Tina: Thats ok, because technically I will be. Shell never guess Im going to propose to her.

Shane: Youre right about that.

Dana: So where do you want the ceremony to be set up?

Tina: (Walking toward the location)Its just down here.

Shane: Tina, how are we going to set stuff up?

Tina: There really wont be anything to set up.

Dana: Ok, now Im confused.

Alice: Imagine that!

Dana: (Pushing Alice)Hey!

[As a result of Danas push, Alice she stumbled and fell in the sand. But not before pulling Dana down with her.]

Dana: (Lying on top of Alice)You did that on purpose.

Alice: (Playing dumb)What, me? No, you pushed me and I was going down alone.

Dana: Al, we cant keep doing this.

Alice: Doing what? Im not doing anything.

Dana: Come on Alice, I know what youre doing. I told you, I chose Tonya.

Alice: (Now separated from Dana but sitting next to her in the sand)I know, but we both know it was the wrong choice.

Dana: (Looking down)I kn

Tina: (Interrupting Dana in mid-sentence)Come on you two, you can play in the sand later.

[Dana never finished her sentence, she got up and jogged to catch up with Tina and Shane.]

Alice: (Slapping the sand before getting up)Damn it!

Tina: Heres the place. You guys can come down those stairs (pointing toward them) and well walk up from where we were just at.

Shane: So if we arent setting anything up, then what are we to bring?

Tina: Well need some flowers, the rings, and whatever Alice prepares for the ceremony. (Turning to Alice) Please try and be sincere!

Alice: Hey, look who youre talking to! I can be sincere!

Shane: This ought to be good!

Dana: What are we supposed to do during the ceremony?

Tina: Heres how I see it. (Pause) Alice will perform the ceremony, Kit will walk Bette down the aisle and be her party, Shane youll be in my party, and Dana, could you take pictures?

Alice: Thats all youre inviting?

Tina: This is a very personal and private moment in our lives. I want only our family here.

Dana: Can we bring a date?

Tina: (Looking at Dana hoping she didnt just say that)Sorry Dana, I would prefer nobody bring dates.

Alice: (Changing the subject before becoming irate)So were just bringing some flowers and rings?

Tina: Well also need some music. Theres a song I want to dance to with Bette after the ceremony.

Shane: Champagne! We must have champagne to make a toast!

Alice: Shanes right, well need alcohol to mark this occasion.

Tina: Do you think you guys can handle all that?

Dana: Dont worry Tina, we can do it.

Tina: Great! Ill bring by the rings and the CD so you guys will have everything. (Pause) Oh and Alice, Ill be writing my own vows.

Alice: You know, this is a great idea but what about Bette? She isnt getting a say in any of this.

Tina: Trust me Alice, I dont think shell mind. Not after its all over.

Alice: Oh, I see! Never mind. (Pause) By the way, what are you doing with your old rings? That is if Kit can get them away from Bette.

Shane: Yeah Tina, Ive been wondering that myself.

Tina: (Smiling)Youll see, its something special for Bette and me.

Alice: You know the suspense is killing me.

Tina: I know! Why do you think Im not telling you!

Alice: Tina! Youre not very funny today.

Tina: Yes, I am. At least where this is concerned.

Shane: (Laughing with Dana)Poor Alice, I guess youll have to wait out the suspense.

Alice: Very funny! I think your Yoda days are numbered.

Dana: Dont pick on Shane, she didnt do anything.

Tina: Ok guys, Ill meet up with you later to give you the rings and CD. I have to get a hold of Kit to find out about the old rings.

Alice: UhTina, I rode with you.

Tina: Oh yeah, Dana, can you give Alice a ride home?

Dana: Sure Tina.

Alice: (Leaning in to whisper to Tina)You planned this didnt you?

Tina: (Whispering back)I told you youd thank me later.

Tina: (Giving hugs)Ok guys, I gotta go.

Shane: Me too, Ive got an appointment in an hour.

Tina: Are you guys coming or staying here at the beach?

Dana: (Looking at Alice)I dont have anywhere to be. Do you want to stay?

Alice: (To Dana)I brought my swim suit.

Dana: (To Tina)Ok, I guess were staying here for awhile.

Tina: Dont stay too long, the sun will be going down soon and it gets pretty dark in this area.

Alice: Thanks mom, I think well manage.

Tina: Ok then, bye guys. Come on Shane, lets leave these beach goers alone.

Dana: Bye guys!

Alice: Tina, Ill see you later.


Its late in the afternoon, Bette and Kit said their goodbyes after lunch. Bette is wandering around the house waiting to see Tina and thinking about what Kit said earlier. I cant believe I gave Kit our rings. What was I thinking? Bette placed her hand on their bedroom door, I never want to lose you again. Im sorry if by wearing our rings you were constantly reminded of how I f*cked up. That was never my intention. I just needed to have you near me. Im not sure I can do this. Bette picks up the phone to call Kit.

Kit: (Answering the phone)Hellohellobaby girl I know its you. Whats wrong?

Bette: (Softly)I dont think I can do it.

Kit: Do what?

Bette: I need the rings back.

Kit: (Damn it Bette, your stubbornness is going to mess everything up. Sighing loudly)Bette, why dont you talk to Tina tonight and well go from there.

Bette: How do I tell her I took them off not knowing for sure they upset her? She never said they upset her.

Kit: Bette, give Tina some credit. Maybe she didnt say anything because she saw that you needed them. Maybe she put her own feelings aside for your sake. (Pause) Just talk to Tina, you may be surprised at what you find out.

Bette: Youre right. Tina put her feelings and wants behind mine before, that was one reason we ended up where we did.

Kit: Communication Bette. Its probably the most important thing you can give her right now. Didnt Dr. Mitchell tell you that communication or rather a lack of it is what destroyed your marriage?

Bette: Yes, youre right. Ill talk to Tina tonight. (Pause) Thanks Kit.

Kit: You and Tinas happiness, together, are thanks enough. Now get yourself ready for dinner with that beautiful woman of yours.

Bette: Ill call you tomorrow.

Kit: You better! And Bette, remember, Tina loves you all of you. Just be open and honest with her.

Bette: I know Kit and Ill try.

Kit: Ok girl, call me tomorrow.

Bette: Bye Kit.


Kit: (Answering the phone)Bette, just trust me

Tina: Kit, its Tina. Whats going on with Bette?

Kit: Damn girl, you owe me big time!

Tina: What are you talking about? Whats going on?

Kit: I was able to get the rings, but it wasnt easy.

Tina: (Surprised)You got them! How did you do it?

Kit: Believe me, I had to pull out all the stops. I basically had to put a guilt trip on her.

Tina: (Kind of chuckling)Bette and guilt trips dont mix. What kind of guilt trip did you use?

Kit: I had to convince her that by her wearing the rings it reminded you of the past and that maybe the two of you couldnt progress until she was able to let go of the past and embrace the future.

Tina: Kit! I dont feel that way at all. In fact, it warms my heart to know that she wore them around her neck all this time.

Kit: If you tell her that, youll never get those rings. Its not about that Tina, I had to do it to get the rings.

Tina: Thank you Kit. They are very important to us and I need them for our ceremony.

Kit: What are you going to do with them?

Tina: Ok Alice!

Kit: Excuse me!

Tina: Alice keeps asking that same question.

Kit: I seewellare you going to tell me?

Tina: All I can say is youll see and it will be worth it.

Kit: By the way, Bettes been a little upset about the rings and our conversation, so just be prepared.

Tina: Thank you for the warning.

Kit: Tina, I think shes going to talk to you tonight about some things and some of it may not be pleasant.

Tina: What do you mean?

Kit: She has a lot on her mind and shes confused. I told her to open up to you. I just wanted to warn you so youd be ready for it.

Tina: Thanks but Im not sure how to be ready.

Kit: Dont let on that you know any of this. Just listen to her, comfort her, but most of all, just love her.

Tina: (Sighing)I do Kit! I love her now more than ever before and never want to be without her again.

Kit: Good! Now go get baby sis out of her funk.

Tina: Thanks again Kit. Ill never be able to repay you. Bye.


Bette: (Seeing Tinas number on her phone)Hey T., Ive missed you today!

Tina: (Smiling)Hey babe, Ive missed you too!

Bette: When are you coming over?

Tina: I have a couple of errands to run and then Ill be over.

Bette: I cant wait to see you. Are you hungry? Where do you want to go?

Tina: Im starving! How about we order in so that were not disturbed tonight?

Bette: Sounds good, how long do you think youll be?

Tina: Ill be there in about an hour.

Bette: Ill go ahead and order so its here when you get here.

Tina: Sounds great see you soon. I love you.

Bette: Not soon enough. I love you too. Bye.


Kit: (Answering the door)Tina, what are you doing here?

Tina: I decided not to wait until tomorrow to pick up the rings.

Kit: Ill get them. (Coming back with the rings)These were her lifeline to you for the past 4 months, please take care of them.

Tina: Kit, they were our lifeline to each other a lot longer than 4 months.

Kit: (Handing the rings to Tina)Please take care of her. I know she thinks shes invincible and can handle anything but she cant. She is a fragile soul, now more than ever. Please love her faults and love her.

Tina: (Rubbing Kits arm)Kit, I do love her, all of her. I thought she could hold the world on her shoulders and although she tried, she proved to be human. I will never take her for granted and never assume she can do it all. We are both a little more fragile this time around. I know well do better taking care of each other.

Kit: She may be my sister but I consider you my family as well. I just want you two to be happy.

Tina: (Giving Kit a hug)Me too Kit, me too! I gotta go, Bettes waiting on me and I dont want her to wait too long.

Kit: Remember what I said on the phone.

Tina: I remember Kitand thanks. Shes lucky to have you even if she wont admit it.

Kit: Thanks Tina. Now go, Bettes waiting.

[Tina walked out, but before she got to her car she stopped and turned back.]

Kit: (Answering the door)Tina did you forget something?

Tina: Can you do something else for me?

Kit: What do you need?

Tina: (Handing Kit the rings back)Can you take these to Manolis Jewlery? They are expecting them by 10 am tomorrow. Just tell them they are for the Kennard/Porter Design, they will know what to do from there.

Kit: Youre still not going to tell me what youre doing are you?

Tina: Please trust me Kit. I want to keep this a surprise.

Kit: Ok Tina. Ill drop them off by 10 am tomorrow.

Tina: Thank you Kit, Ive gotta go. Call me and let me know when Manolis said the design would be finished.
