When Hope Is Lost
Previously….
“Babe, what is it?” Tina asked her as she brought her wife in closer.
“Oh, my God… It’s Ozzie… I’m afraid that he’s really sick.”
“Babe, what happened?”
“He tripped on a rug and landed on his face, giving himself a nosebleed and now the bleeding won’t stop. They brought him to the emergency room to have them take care of it… Kit gave them permission to go in and cauterize the blood vessels in his nose.”
“I’m sure they can stop the bleeding down there…” Tina shared.
“I know they can but it’s what it represents that causes me the concern.”
“I don’t understand.”
“Honestly, with what he’s been experiencing the past month, I think he has leukemia… he’s been having nosebleeds, experiencing fevers, fatigue, some headaches and has lost weight over the past month as he’s lost his appetite. I’m so worried… We have an appointment with his pediatrician on Wednesday this week. Oh, my God, I don’t want to lose him. He’s truly my son as if I gave birth to him. Oh, T…” Bette said through her tears. Tina held her close as she cried for a few minutes.
Soon, Bette picked up her head and wiped the tears from her eyes. “I can’t be like this, I have to be strong for him. He needs me now. I have to be strong.” Bette told herself.
“Babe, we’ll both be strong for him. We can do this for him and for our family. I’m going to be his other mom and I take that role seriously, okay?”
“Yes, I’m sorry… I’m not used to this yet. Oh, Sweetheart, we have to be there for him every step of the way. He has nightmares from his early childhood and his immune system isn’t the strongest. I think his teenage mom did drugs while she was pregnant with him. His body suffered the consequence but he’s a brilliant little boy.
T, you should rest and I’ll meet them down in the emergency room. As soon as I can I’ll try and send someone upstairs to stay and help you out. I’ll get back to you when I can, okay?”
