When we first met, Chapter 4

At 6 PM, Bette decided to go home and refresh before joining Tina at the Planet. She felt weird at the idea of breaking up for someone else, even if it was Alice. Weird and guilty, at the idea of hurting Tina. For a reason she couldn’t quite figure she didn’t want to see Tina hurt, but then again Alice was there for her when she was at her worse.
A few weeks before she finished working for the CAC, things were pretty bad for her. She spent her entire free time (that was really short) crying alone at home. Partly from the stress she was under with the last show she curated. But the most of it was because her mother, who she didn’t hear from for almost twenty years contacted her just to announce her that she was about to die and she wanted to know her daughter.
Not having her mother around had been Bette’s greatest wound. She grew up not knowing why her mother ran away from her. She grew up feeling like she was unworthy of love from the woman who should have loved her no matter what. her father was a control freak and when Maxine, Bette’s mother, left thing only got worse. Maybe he loved his daughter in his own way but he sure as hell didn’t show her. Bette grew up with not being really used to love and be loved. She got her half sister Kit, who loved her she knows that now but at the time Kit was far from a sister it was more of a frek, embarassing Bette and throwing her love away.
In the middle of the mess of her mother dying Alice was there for her. She hold Bette when she was crying her eyes out. She took her to the hospital to see her dying mother. She was there for Bette at the funerals.
So here was Bette, feeling like she couldn’t refuse Alice anything. Reminiscing the past and rehearsing Alice’s break up speach.
She arrived at the Planet 15 minutes early and spotted Shane, obviously waiting for someone. When she noticed Bette she waved her and when Bette reached the table she found herself engulfed in a bear hug.

Oh no, Not Helena as a love interest for Bette. That couple just doesn’t work..
well, I just read your last 2 posts, and first, I wanted to thank you to make me discover a great singer (KT Tunstall) and ask you which song you were referring to ? Second, I just LMAO at one slip you made while typing : Bette found Tina simply sxtunning (!) – well, I wondered if you didn’t write in on purpose, since she is really “sexy and stunning” ;-) — but seriously, I like your story very much. The characters are very moving, and I hope that true love will conquer :-) – Helena worries me little, though : I find that Helena is very forgiving towards Bette (or is she ?) : the Laclos quotation from Valmont’s break-up letter to Tourvel is much less a libertine “take them and dump them” than a deadly weapon, designed to definitely kill love in the heart of a desperate woman, which lead her to despair and death… not exactly Helena’s attitude, hm ? – so, is she forgiving, and trying to re-conquer Bette, or is she on the road to Revenge ?
… sorry, just lost the end of my comment : “Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned” (and Hel(l) can certainly be a fury) ;-)
