“I can’t even begin to make things work, if everytime I come around to see Bette, You are
right there…Sure doesn’t help me to even begin to trust her again.”
“I just came by, Tina, to tell Bette that I am leaving town……..I am doing this to make things easier on you two….”
“No……………….Candace………….You are leaving town because you have fallen in love with Bette……………..I heard every word that you said….”
“Ok….that’s why….but just the same, I am leaving……………….for what it’s worth…………..I am very sorry, and I hope that you both can work through this…………………….again, I’m sorry….” said Candace as she slid around Tina being careful not to touch her……
“Is that why you came to work, Bette?”
“No, Tina…I came to work because I wanted to give you some space….I have no need to see her…”
“Guess not, she already took care of your needs…” said Tina as she paced around Bette’s office as if she had never seen it before.
“That was so unfair….” said Bette.
“Anything that I pass along to you is not unfair……you deserve anything you get coming ……for ***** around on me.”
“What do you want me to do? I will do anything……………….” said Bette as she walked up to Tina and wrapped her arms around her….Tina didn’t return the hug, she just breathed in and let out a sigh…………………”I love you Tina….”
” Can you break away from here?” asked Tina…..
“Anything for you, babe…..hold on…let me tell them I’m leaving…”
Bette walked out then a few minutes later, she returned to gather her things…..
“Where do you want to go?”
“To our lawyer…………………………to get a divorce………..”
Bette stood there in awe…………….”No, Tina…”
“Bette, you owe me to let me go…………….” said Tina as she started to cry…………..
“No……………………….” screamed Bette now in tears herself…………”I will never let you go…………..I want to fix things…….Please……….Please don’t do this, baby………..”
“Bette, I can go and file myself…………………..I don’t need you to be there…..” said Tina….
“Tina, please just take time to think about this……………………think about what you are doing………….don’t do this out of haste…………………it would be the worst mistake that you ever made……………………please…………….don’t leave me…..”
“*****, I have to get out of here…………………….I’ll see you in a few days………….” said Tina as she walked out the door.
“Please…………” yelled Bette as she watched Tina walk out the door.
Tina walked outside and got into her car….She sat there watching Bette’s office window……crying…. She leaned her head against the sterring wheel and sobbed fiercely just pounding on the wheel……………’Why?…………………….Why, Why, Why, Bette?’ she yelled……
Just that minute, the passenger door opened and Bette plopped down in the seat……….”I can’t let you go, Tina……”
“Get the ***** out, Bette….you can’t stop me…”
“Where are you going?”
“I don’t know…..”
“That’s not good enough…..Where are you going?”
“I said that I didn’t know…..”
“God dammit, Tina………….Where are you going?”
“Why? Why do you want to know so bad?” asked Tina..
“Are you going to the lawyer’s office?” asked Bette with tears in her eyes…..
“I don’t know….”
“T, I am not getting out of this car until you promise me that you aren’t going to that office to file for a divorce……I can’t let you do that……I know that we can fix this………………..Love conquers all…….And I really believe that…..” said Bette.
“Fine…………I won’t go…but I am leaving town for a couple of days……”
“Going where?”
“Dammit Bette, you are acting like my ***** mother………….I don’t know where I am going….but when I get back, I will have an answer of whether I think we should get that divorce or not…”
“Please, please…..just remember that I love you and I will do anything you want me to……….anything……………”
“Fine, I will remember………….now, will you please get out so that I can go?” asked Tina as she stared straight ahead through the windshield….
“I am so sorry….and I love you so much….please don’t throw us away…” said Bette as she looked at Tina…
“Get Out…” said Tina…still looking out through the windshield not even blinking.
Bette did what was told of her and stood there while watching Tina drive away….’*****….’
Bette went back in and grabbed her things to leave………….she went directly home, changed into her bathing suit and jumped into the pool.
About an hour later, Jenny walked over….” Hey, Jenny….”
“Hey, Bette….I noticed that you were swimming by yourself, where’s Tina?”
“It’s such a ***** long story….the short of it is that she went away for a couple of days to think of whether she wants a divorce or not…”
“Oh my god….What the ***** happened, Bette?”
“I got caught ***** around…” said Bette as she looked down and waded through the water…..
“Seems like we both have a knack at getting caught…………” said Jenny with a smile….
Bette let out a small smile….
“Have you told Kit?” asked Jenny…
“No…….noone knows except Alice…and that’s because Tina went over there last night….” A silence filled the air for a few minutes, until Bette finally spoke….
“Jenny, Can I ask you a question?”
“Sure, Bette.” said Jenny as she sat in a chair next to the pool…..Bette swam over to the edge of the pool…………..”Were you happy with Tim, I mean, when you and Marina got involved..?”
“Very much in love…..” said Jenny smiling and looking at the sky as if daydreaming about those days….
“Then, if he made you feel completely whole, and you were totally in love, why did you go to Marina?”
“Well, it wasn’t exactly like that…she came to me first…..I just couldn’t tell her no…..It felt so right….yet, I knew it was so wrong…..I didn’t care….something was so intriging about her…..I couldn’t stop myself…….”
“That’s exactly the way I felt….I couldn’t tell Candace no…”
“Candace?” said Jenny in a surprised voice….
“Yea….” said Bette…
“Wow, she’s hot…..”
“Yea, but I couldn’t tell her no, and now I have ruined the only thing in my life that made any sense….the only woman I have ever loved, I treated her like ***** and destroyed her trust in me…now, she is gone for a few days…..and when she get’s back….she will let me know whether she wants to divorce or not….”
“*****….that Serious?” asked Jenny….
“Yea….It’s very serious….the last 7 years of my life is riding on the one day that she comes back.”
“*****….I am so sorry…………………………….I have to be running….I’ve got to meet Marina today…….to talk about some things….”
“Ah *****, I am so sorry…I shouldn’t push my problems into your lap….”
“No, it’s okay….” said Jenny as she stood….”I’ll come back by tonight, and we can finish this conversation, is that okay?”
“Yea….it’s nice to talk to someone who has been there before……” said Bette.
“I’ll see you later.” said Jenny as she walked away…….thinking, ‘*****…we have to do something….I’ve got to talk to everyone…..we definately have to do something for these two…’
Jenny knew that she had plans with Marina, but she made it a point to go by ‘The Planet’ and tell everyone what was going on, with the exception of Alice because she already knew…, She pleaded with everyone to come up with something….she couldn’t stand to see them two apart……They all began to scheme………………
