Window of Opportunity ch. 50
Window of Opportunity
Chapter 50
Tina
We all sat around outside as those closest to us began to arrive. Shane and her new friend, who I was just meeting, Amy, were the first to arrive. As Angie heard the gate opening, she bolted toward them and into Shane’s arms. It was evident that those two had a connection of great magnitude. I watched Mom and Daddy observing them and they saw a side of Angie that they hadn’t seen yet. They saw the real Angie. The child who loved those she loved completely and with no hesitation. They needed to see her in her element with the people she has known since her birth. Her interaction with them was friendly and even beginning to become warmer but her interaction with Shane was pure unadulterated admiration and love. I believe in watching them that they both truly realized what they have missed over the years. I have no doubts that they love Angie and accept her as their granddaughter but the distance we live apart and the time they’ve missed is not going to allow them to have the type of relationship that they were witnessing.
Shane and Amy walked over to us and we were introduced to Amy and both to my parents. They pulled up chairs and we just casually talked about nothing while we waited for others to arrive. James was next and Angie was again on the move. James had to quickly hand off the dessert he brought with him to Bette to avoid Angie making him drop it as she flung herself into him. He picked her up, hugged and kissed her and together they whispered secrets only they shared. Mom and Daddy again had a wistful look on their faces. James and Angie came toward us and hellos and introductions were made. He made a comment about the dessert and Bette countered. He then told her too much of it would cause her to have to visit the gym often. I could tell by the blush that was starting that her thoughts were in the realm of her and me working off those excessive calories but with my parents here, she wouldn’t say anything like that. I didn’t have that same control that she had and I did say I would make sure that she burns those calories off right here at home. Bette’s blush intensified and I had to suppress a giggle. My parents just continued observing without comment. Before I could finish my thought, Alice arrived. She couldn’t sneak in anywhere if she tried. She started announcing herself from the living room and I really had to suppress a giggle.

Awesome chapter. Looking forward to more whenever you can post. Thank you!
**sigh** such a life-affirming chapter. Thank god there are children to help us overcome fears we would otherwise never get past. You write Angie so tenderly – I hope there is a kid lucky enough to have you as a Mom. Hope you get some peace at the beach and can leave work behind.
As lovelyangel and socal said this was an awesome chapter and yes life affirming. Alice was the right person to talk all about what they have been thru as a family, all the love, joys, hurts, pain and anxiety; yet they have all come thru with more compassion, love and tolerance of each other and their foibles and understanding that people may cause us hurt and pain but we have to forgive and move on as best we can and try to understand that the hurt was not intentional yet it didi happen and we love those people no less that before. Wonderful story and I am truly enjoying it. So happy that Kit had that talk with Tina and with Tina’s mother, it really helped Tina to think thru all that is happening, put her fears to rest and move forward with so much love and family in her life that truly wants to be family. Boy, what a story. Hopefully with your few days of R & R you will feel much better. Post when you can.
Wish I could go to the beach. Have fun and just relax, and if you get around to writing great if not hopefully when you get back…please:)
Excellent chapter so detailed and interesting. Rest, refresh and maybe write a little. ;-)
Love this It was asesome. So glad that Tinas parents got to meet the gang, and to see the love they have for one another. Get you some peace and quite come back refresh, and that work is better. thanks
“Kisses grandpa”, with tina listening outside the door had me in tears. that momnet in time was so precious and very important for tina to hear!! enjoy the beach, not exactly beach time yet but soon!!! :)
Great chapter, glad Tina finally forgave her parents. I wonder how much milage is bette going to get out of the MIMI secret?
This is a very feel good story you have going here NAG and I can’t wait till it’s updated again, see I’m beign a little greedy. While your reflecting at the beach please thin of all the lives you touch, not here but at work. Maybe nobody says anything now but I can tell from the way you write that you have probaly altered more than one life in such a good way. Can’t wait for Friday. Thank you. Md
NAG, I think your sense of humour is priceless. Loved the update…I don’t think that you could do a bad one if you tried. Have fun at the beach, rest, relax and hopefully everything goes well with your job. I will dutifully await your return and next update.
Look, I am not behind. Just think a few more weeks and we are free from those spawns of satan. Actually, I enjoy them but a few weeks will get me ready for another year of FCAT stuff. I love how the entire group had their say and of course Angie is such a sweet heart. Bette is going to be excited when she finds out who Luke really is. I really like the effort that Tina’s rents are putting forward.
Congratulations! The chapters of this lovely, immensely entertaining story just reached the half-century mark. Hooray! Thank you again, newagegirl, for sharing your gift to us, for taking time to weave this tale despite your busy sked. And boy, when you’re on a roll you post updates in quick succession. Even if I don’t get to comment at the end of each chapter, please keep in mind that I’ve never missed reading any of your posts which have made every visit to this site truly worthwhile. Btw, I LOL at Bette’s “religious experience” at the shower in the previous chapter. And it’s a good thing they have a very understanding friend and neighbor in Shane. That’s what friends are for, right? ;> Tina’s parents must have felt under scrutiny the whole time during the barbeque but I think their sincerity and contriteness can no longer be doubted. Forgiveness though can’t be processed overnight too. I’m sure they’ll figure out how they’ll rebuild their ties from hereon. Tina really seems to be a Daddy’s girl. Thanks again for sketching Tina’s family background in great detail. :) Glad to see Helena back in the fold and the shout out to the sorely missed Dana. I think the William Parsons bit is a good twist. It would also be nice to see the Kennard-Porters vacation together. Maybe in North Carolina…someday. I wonder what role would Helena play in the story? And would Bette & Tina continue their individual and couple therapies now that they’re living under the same roof? Enjoy your sun-sea-sand R&R, newagegirl. I myself just came back from a rejuvenating weekend at the beach. *THANK YOU!* *CHEERS!* PPS ;>
Finally caught up, nagster…And it was wonderful! (of course) The last two chapters were just so touching and laced with your lovely humor…Thanks :) Hope you’re doin’ okay…
Like beachlife I too had tears in my eyes when Angie said “Kisses grandpa”. Children that receive your love give it back to you without reservation. I have a granddaughter that is 3 years old. When I walk into my sons place and she yells grandma and runs to me to pick her up and I get her hugs and kisses it is the best feeling in the world. I can’t adequately tell you just how wonderful a writer I feel you are. All I can offer you is my thanks for this story and ask that you please keep writing. I hope you got some rest and relaxation at the beach this past weekend and work is going better. Thanks again and post when you can.
Great chapter NAG. Enjoy the beach but don’t get that head on too straight. Look forward to your next post….
Excellent work again! Please keep this story going for a long, long time.
wow….you just keeo getting better. Have a relaxing produtive time at the beach..best place to clear ones head
well said ‘Kit’…are u a teacher? I think u said that…good luck in your r and r…I teach and if your schools any thing like mine it can be very tiring, tedious and oftentimes oppressive…but I love the kidz which is the reason I’m still there. Have a rest. write if u want.
I realy love it, so I will be as patient as possible and wait for more. I wish you all the best.
great as usual newagegirl. Detailed and full of love and humor. Loving it as usual and can’t wait for more, especially the future wedding ;-)
