Window of Opportunity ch. 63
“I just get so scared sometimes Daddy that I may lose her again.” I’m crying and those tears are ones that I’ve needed with Daddy holding me for a long time.
“And Tina, you may lose her again. If you do, you’ll find a way to work through it. She loves you though and I don’t see her going anywhere. This Julie person is surely a temptation to her but so are other women. She’s sharing everything that Julie is doing and letting you know how it makes her feel. You trust her. Let that trust be your guide. Don’t allow yourself to get bogged down by the Julie’s in the world. You’ve both dated other people and they led you back to one another. That says something.”
“I just want to get some of the drama out of our lives and live like normal people. Sometimes it feels overwhelming.”
“And at the end of the day, when you’re in Bette’s arms does it feel overwhelming?”
“No, it feels like being home when I’m in her arms.”
“Then that should tell you something. She shoulders some of those overwhelming feelings for you just like you do for her. You’re both wonderful with Angie and will be with a new one. You two have something unique. It’s obvious. It should be treasured yet not let you forget that problems will arise and together you can solve them. These fears of losing her are ones I honestly think you can let go.”
We talked some more and I finally brought up the wedding and Luke walking me halfway to him and he walking me to Bette. I prayed that I didn’t hurt his feelings but he just smiled when I asked him.
“Of course that’s fine. Being at your wedding is a privilege and being part in any way is an honor. I would be honored to share giving you away with Luke.” We sat on the shore watching the water and talked about Angie, Shane, Alice James and Kit. Daddy was totally enamored with them all.
“Tina, I need to ask you something and if you’re against it, I do totally understand.”
“Sure Daddy. You know you can ask me anything.”
“Mom and I have been talking…even before you gals and James came out. We would like to move out your way. It may seem rash with us having built our dream house but we don’t want to see Angie a couple times a year. We want to be a part of her life and your life. We know that it may be a bit much and we do understand but wondered if you would consider the idea.”

Loved the bulging Dora backpack that Tina hadn’t seen before. Everyone needs grandparents and aunties!
Your story has the depth and loving detail that only a wonderful storyteller such as yourself could weave. I particularly love the longer chapters. PPS.
Just caught up – I’m blown away how you manage to go from strength to strength with this life-affirming story. I hope someone actually lived this story – it seems too wonderful to just be fiction. So, I hope there is some autobiography in it. The depth of the love and friendship, the generosity of spirit, just wonderful. And then there’s that sense of humor…Alice and Shane hunting, LOL. The first time we see them next season, I will think of that!
2,1 Now your talking serious countdown, I was trying to leave a comment on the last chapter but the comment cow kept eating it, now I see you posted angin, I am a little sleep deprived so will look forward to reading tomarrow. I can’t wait for the next story but think I could do with another 63 chapters of this one. We must have NYC and a wedding before this ends. I Love, Love, Love this L and you know that. Little G is going to let you sleep when you least need it, or your going to have secret naps while he’s at day care and your on VACATION. Thank you, be back to read tomarrow. Md
AHA! That’s how the grandparents got Angie to calm down!! As for the jars…yeah You need holes…it helps…the bees…LOL!!
Oh, I hate goodbyes too, especially in airports. But sad as it is, all good things must come to an end. The buckets of tears, tight hugs and heartfelt goodbyes that the family shared simply affirmed the deep bond of love and friendship, the lasting memories they have made during their vacation. Very emotional scenes, NAG, but in a good way. Since that chapter when you described how Sam’s aftershave evoked Tina’s childhood memories, I had a feeling that Tina’s a Daddy’s girl, and their lakeside talk confirmed it. Sam and Catherine win Grandparents and In-laws of the Year Award, hands down! The Kennard-Porters and their extended family’s life will be so much better once they move near WeHo. Can’t wait to see how Bette will top the Vegas-Celine Dion concert grand gesture in New York which will most likely involve a loving, momentous insemination. I can’t say thank you enough, NAG, for keeping us smiling and thoroughly entertained from one chapter to another. You rock! Enjoy your break and longer bonding hours with your two-toothed little G!!! :>
love this story… i can’t wait for them to land in NY… did bette tell sam what she had planned… i wonder… PPS
Well, that’s what I get for reading late…Everyone else already took the words outta my mouth! Really woulda loved a descriptive scene of Alice shooting at everything with a shotgun…I can only imagine…but that’s pretty good! Heheh! I hate goodbyes too…but at the airport is definitely the worst…Bawl City!!! And last but not least…Bette’s too damn picky of an eater! Where the hell does she think chicken in her stir-fry comes from?!?! Hah! :D Dead chickens! pffffft! Looking forward to NY!
That was so sweet and loving. I am so loving this story. Now bring on NYC. Thanks PPS
I love this story and look forward to reading it every time I see a post. Angie has some wonderful grandparents and of course the gang has awesome additions to their family. It will be nice for grandma and grandpa to live close to Angie but I will miss that farm life that the gang sure had a blast with. Maybe they could get into the grape business. What about Charles and Kit? One day left with just the teachers.
OMG, Alice Shane and Sam hunting was sooooo funny I couldn’t stop laughing. This story and your writing continues to blow me away every time I read an update. It is so nice to read a “feel good” Tibette story after all the angst they and us have been through in this series. I really hope S6 is as good as this!
Well, seeing as the trip to the parents has been something special, what’s NYC gonna bring? …has Marcus been in NYC recently? ;) Does Bette have more than champagne on ice up there? Can’t wait to find out. Thanks for the post, nag.
This is such a beautiful story….can’t wait till they get started on making another baby
hahahahahahehehehehehehhohhohohohhahahahahahh, I’m laughing so hard because Rau asked you how to make grits, NAG thats so funny, she might as well ask little G. In fact he might like those. CONGRATULATION on your summer freedom. Sam taking the guns away for our fearless hunters before they shoot him or each other, thats funny too. Mostly really sweet though, you know I love the family interaction. Looking forward to NY. Thank you, Md
Grandparents sure do know how to spoil don’t they! and could Bette be planning to impregnate Tina on their trip? Can’t wait to see what happens next! PPS:)
I love being the favorite aunt to all 23 of my nieces and nephews.
ok first baby G, the giggles at 3 a.m. are worth it altho how u work the next day beats me. There was a program on NZ TV about how to soothe crying babies…but didn’t see much for your baby except stomach massages and leg exercises…massage with pure olive oil is what my mom did for my son, starting at his feet…and love the grandparents in the story, wonderful people…hey how do you make grits? I wanna try it. Lovng that some things r sorted for Tina and Bette…at last they have caring parents. Look 4ward to the parents move to California. Like that Kit has a man, maybe? Hugs and kisses for baby G. PPS
Wondering if catherine sent back grits for bette, lol… the visual of alice and shane hunting was too funny, lol… grandparents are great especially for angie and dora.. i have been thinking since bette thought about this side trip to NY, i was thinking bette would take tina to see a broadway play and just have some fun, ya know alone time. then i remember that tina was to be ovaluting while they were away so me wonders if bette set something up in NYC to inseminate tina… see that blow tina away… tickled to see sam and catherine are gonna move to LA.. once the gang visited them, i wondered how long before sam and catherine followed especially with a new grandkids in the future… everyone leaving got to me….very emotional goodbye for everyone, sniff! hope the baby settles down. gods knows how i survived teething… :)PPS
That is what Grandparents are for. maybe after the move out to the West Coast, they will ease up a little bit on spoiling the grand kids. Go on Kit, get you some. LOL
NAG, I loved this chapter of the story as well as everyone of them prior to this. The vision of Alice and Shane out hunting with dogs and GUNS had me in stitches, I could just see it. They have to go back to NC to milk cows and participate in a roundup of the herd, that would be hilarious as well. God help them. This story has been a joy to read and I have loved every minute of it This story had to have been lived by someone, at least parts of it, because it speaks to the heart and to love and family so very well. If it is not true then you are one hell of a writer and should be doing this for a living and not teaching school. This would be a superb novel and I would surely but it and recommend it to others, as I have done with it here. New York will have to be really, really special. Hopefully Bette has arranged for a car and driver to get them around in NYC rather than rely on cabs. She has always gone first class. LOVE IT. Post when you can.
