With a little help from my friends-Chapter 32

George woke up suddenly around five am, she rolled over and groaned after seening what time it was. After twenty minutes of trying to fall back asleep she gave up. She crawled out of bed and stumbled over to the mirror. She glaired at herself as she poked at her face. “Ive got to do something about this” she thought. Her self loathing was interupted by her buzzing cell phone. She walked over and looked at it. Her best friend from high school had sent her a text message that read “Happy birthday grandma! From Jen.” George smiled and set her phone down. She walked into the bathroom to brush her teeth then went back to her room. George looked around the room for a moment then she pulled her hair back and threw on some clothes. She grabbed her keys and headed out the door. The sun had just started to rise so she decided to head to the beach to watch it. George layed in the cool sand watching the sun crest over the waves. She layed there for an hour refecting and started to notice the rest of L.A. was waking up, so she got up and headed back to her car. She was driving past the planet when she saw Shane parking so she pulled over. “Hey Shane” she shouted as she climbed out of her car. “Oh hey what’s up?” Shane replied as she pulled her sunglasses down.”Your up early” George said stopping in front of her. “Yeah, I’ve got a couple of early clients.” she replied. “Say, you wouldn’t be able to squeeze me in today would you?” George asked. “Uh yeah if you want to do it right now, I just need to get some coffee first”. she said opening the door. “Yeah that would be great”

Bette was jolted awake by the sound of her alarm buzzing. Tina aslo woke up, she moaned and reached her arm over to slap the snooze button. Tina then rolled over and sunggled up to Bette. “Oh, baby please don’t do that, I have to get up and your making it very hard to do that.” Tina smiled and snuggled closer, then she started to place gentle kisses on Bette’s neck working her way down to her collarbone. She slowly brushed her hand across Bette’s stomach causing her to shake. Bette bit her bottom lip, she didn’t want to say what she had to. “T, baby, remember what the doctor said” she wispered. Tina ignored Bette and started to caress her thigh. Bette closed her eyes and started to breath heavily. Tina looked up and smiled at her reaction then replied “She said I could’t have *****” the she started to work her tounge around Bette’s hard nipple. Bette moaned as Tina slid her hand up her inner thigh. Tina knew Bette was completly aroused and she loved it. Just before she entered her wetness, Bette stopped her. “God, Tina. I want you so much” she said with a husky voice. “but we can’t do this if I can’t have you. Believe me it will be worth the wait.” Tina huffed in defeat. “Your right babe, im sorry” she replied placing a tender kiss on Bette’s lips. Bette sat up and pulled back the sheets. “Good morning baby.” she said kissing Tina back the she kissed Tina’s stomach and said “Good morning baby number two.” then she got up “Now I have to take a cold shower” she smiled as she walked out of the bedroom.

Shane directed George to the chair and started to set up. “So what do you want to do?” she said spinning the chair around. “Well I think I want it darker, im a little tired of this blond thing, and maybe shorter and kinda messy looking, but not too dykie.” she said waving her hands around. She walked around the chair studying George’s hair then said “Yeah I know exactly what to do”. She immeadently started to go to work. After a hour she was finished. “So what do you think” she said spining the chair around. George looked in the mirror and checked herself out. “Messy but managable…Perfect. You truly are a star” she said getting up from the chair. George tried to pay Shane but she insisted that friends didn’t have to pay. George gave in and said “Fine, im playing at this bar” she handed Shane the address “with some old bandmates tonight. How about you come and i’ll buy your drinks and we will call it even.” Shane happily agreed. George decided to go shopping because she was feeling cute with her new haircut.

Tina reluctantly saw Bette off to work and went to take a shower herself. She got dressed and made some tea, she was on her way out to the deck when someone knocked at the door. Tina set down her mug and walked over to answer it. When she opened the door she saw her mom standing there with a boquet of two dozen long stem roses. “Wow, where did you get thoes.” she asked leaning over to smell the beautiful flowers. “They aren’t mine, they are for you, I ran into the delivery guy in the driveway. I need to set these down they’re really heavy” she replied as she strained to hold them up. Tina smiled as she helped her mom set the flowers on the table. “Oh there’s a card too” she said plucking it from the flowers and handing it to Tina. Tina opened the card, all it said was “I love you”. Tina set it down and smiled wildly.

Kathy: “God, maybe I should become a *****” she laughed

Tina: “Nah, I just got lucky. So what’s up?”

Kathy: “Nothing, George called me a few minutes ago. She said she doesn’t want to do anything for her birthday.”

Tina: “Is she going through her yearly midlife crisis?”

Kathy: “Probably. She said she is playing at a bar tonight, something about her old band. She want’s us all to come.”

Tina: “Wow, that should be fun. She’s never let any of us watch her play”.

Kathy: “Apearently we are meeting her there. She told me to be there around eight”.

Tina: “Ok, i’ll tell Bette and Alice”.

Kathy: “Ok, well I gotta go get her presents so I better get a move on. You wanna come?”

Tina: “Nah, I think im going to lounge around here for awhile”

Kathy: “Yeah your right you should get some rest. How about I come over around six and make dinner before we go”

    Tina: “Ok, that sounds good”

Tina said goodbye to her mom and picked up the phone then headed out to the porch to call Bette. She couldn’t help but smile when the phone began to ring.

    Bette: “Bette Porter”

    Tina: “I love you too”

Bette: “I thought you would like them”

Tina: “I loved them. I miss you.”

Bette: “I’ve been gone for an hour” she said leaning back in her chair.

Tina: “I can still miss you. We’re going to watch George’s band play tonight”

Bette: “Really? That’s interesting. It’s already time for another yearly midlife crisis?”

    Tina: “Yep”

Bette: “Sounds fun though. What are we doing about dinner?”

Tina: “My mom’s going to cook tonight. I gotta get going though babe, I still have to convince Alice to come.”

    Bette: “Ok, baby. Good luck”

Eight o’clock was rapidly aproaching. Tina, Bette and Kathy finished dinner and were starting to get ready to leave. Alice finally showed up, after alot of persuasion Tina finally got her to come out tonight. They all hopped into their cars and headed over to the bar. They quicky found a table relativly close to the stage. People were starting to file in and the first band was setting up. There was still no sign of George though. Through the darkness Alice saw Shane walk in the door with someone she had never seen or so she thought. “Who’s that?” she said pointing at the girl. “Who?” Bette replied looking towards the door. “The one with the cute haircut and the vintage jeans.” Tina looked up now interested in who they were talking about. She took a double take as her eyes widened. “That’s George” she said standing up.
