“You’re up early” Bette said as Jess walked into the kitchen yawning
“Yeah I can’t sleep, where you going?”
“The school I’ve abandoned it for 8 weeks now, as the principle I need to make an appearance” Bette smirked “Your brother is coming home tonight”
“Yeah he text me this morning” Jess explained
“Carmen still sleeping?”
“Yeah she’s out cold I don’t want to wake her”
“No don’t let her sleep”
“She’s got her first physio session today with Dr Torres” Jess said “Mum is taking us”
“Well Dr Torres is great” Bette smiled
“Yeah she won’t take any crap”
“That’s what you two need, someone who is firm” Bette smiled
Lisa and Jace walked into the kitchen both looking tired
“Why are you all awake it’s 8am” Bette laughed
“Lisa’s back at work this afternoon, she felt it was compulsory I be awake to sympathise with her” Jace turned the kettle on then turned his attention to Jess “How did she sleep?”
“She’s still sleeping, she actually slept all through the night, I didn’t though, think I was sub consciously awake incase she woke up” Jess yawned
“Coffee?” Jace asked
“No thanks I need to go” Bette smiled kissing Jess and Lisa on the top of their heads “Jess text me if you need anything”
“Bye Mama” Jess smiled at Bette “Love you”
“Love you too” Bette said leaving the house
“I’ll have tea thank you” Lisa said
“Yeah me too” Jess smiled
“What we doing today?” Jace asked
“Nothing, I’m going with Carmen”
“Kelly wants to see us”
“Kelly can want, Carmen is main priority right now” Jess stated
“Can I text Lee and Mark and tell them were free to do whatever?” Jace asked
“Yeah I don’t see why not, Kelly can come speak to me if she wants” Jess sighed “I need to give Carmen my full attention”
“Yes you do” Lisa smiled
Tina walked into the kitchen “Wow your all up early, what’s the deal here?”
“We couldn’t sleep” Jess smiled
“Speak for yourself” Jace said getting back up to make Tina coffee
“I’m working” Lisa sighed “Boss stated he wanted me back today”
“How did Carmen sleep?” Tina asked
“Yeah really well” Jess yawned
“I’m guessing you didn’t” Tina asked looking at her daughter
Jess nodded no
“Here, take these” Jace smiled handing Jess her tablets “Bette has left them out for you”
“Typical”
“She cares” Tina smiled

Later that day…

Jess sat on the chair next to Carmen holding her hand.
“You nervous?”
“Why would I be, I can’t walk, what’s to be nervous about” Carmen snapped
“Ok then” Jess said sarcastically
Dr Torres walked into the room
“What have you two got yourself into now?” Dr Torres smiled taking a seat
“This one is all on me” Carmen said
“How the hell is your dads steering column failing and the car crashing your fault?” Jess asked
“Whose fault was it I was in New-York?” Carmen snapped
“Mine, for letting you!” Jess snapped back
“Okay instead of snapping let’s get you sorted, I’ve had a look over the case notes, and I’m not satisfied with your care in Manhattan to be perfectly honest, I’d like to operate on your right leg and we would like to do a few other tests to see what’s going on” Dr Torres explained
“Can you just get me walking?”
“I’m going to give it a damn good try” Dr Torres smiled getting up “How do you feel about a few overnights?”
“Is it up for discussion?”
“No but I like to make you feel like I’m given you the option” Dr Torres smirked
“Great” Carmen sighed
“It’s a few days, I promise, I’m going to see if I can operate tomorrow morning”
Dr Torres looked at Jess before leaving the room giving her a half-hearted smile.
“Jess?”
“Yes?” Jess looked at Carmen
“What if she can’t fix my legs?”
Jess got up kneeling in front of Carmen
“She will, Can you try and be positive please?”
“If she can’t?”
“Then we will deal with that” Jess said taking Carmen’s hand
“Will you still love me?”
“I’m not even answering that” Jess said getting up and sitting back on the chair and taking out her phone and texting Lisa”
