Bette smiled as she pulled into the parking lot right behind Tina.  The blonde was having a conversation with someone who was annoying her based on her body language.  Bette could see her mentally counting to maintain her composure.  Bette was glad that she was not the one responsible for the blonde’s need to count.

It was clear the moment that Tina realized that she was there.  Her eyes lit up and she waved as she quickly ended the call.  Bette approached the car with their iced coffees in hand.

‘What a lovely surprise” Tina exclaimed reaching for the coffee and giving Bette a quick kiss where she slipped her the barest of tongue, sending a shiver through her. Tina had always been physically expressive yet Bette found herself constantly surprised these days with Tina’s frank desire for her.  The tables had turned and she found that she enjoyed being the need that Tina made no attempt to hide.

Bette wondered briefly why they were outside Dan’s office.  What could he tell them that they didn’t already know?  Bette knew that she was more in love with Tina than she had been before.  She was afraid of herself and the depth of her feelings.  Would her love and need push Tina away?  Did Tina feel for her what she felt for Tina?

“Kit knows” she blurted out on the way to the building.

“Knows what?” Tina asked already knowing the answer.

“She knows that we are…” Bette trailed off unable to finish the sentence afraid of overstepping what they had told one another.

“Fucking?” Tina supplied glancing at the long legged brunette by her side.

“She told me to be careful.”

“That she didn’t tell you to head for the hills is a point in my favor.” Tina mused aloud.  She knew that as much as Kit loved her she loved Bette more and their brutal break up was not a pretty sight for anyone especially not Bette’s sister.  If she were Kit she would be wary too given their history.

“Do you want points?”  Bette asked casually trying to gage where Tina was without confessing her own feelings as they made their way to the building.

“No.” Tina responded firmly.  “I just want you.”

“Why are we here?”  Bette’s eyes glazed over with desire and Tina recognizing the look linked her arm with hers and dragged her along.

“We are here because for some reason you think Dan can tell us what’s going on between us other than the obvious.”

They stepped into the elevator and turned to watch the doors close.

“What is the obvious?”  Bette asked watching the numbers rise after stealing a quick look at the blonde who seemed so composed and sure of herself.

    “You’re afraid.”  Tina responded simply.

The elevator jolted to a sudden halt and the lights went out.

“Bette?” Tina called to her in the darkness.

“I’m right here.” Bette answered immediately.

The elevator lurched and the lights came on at a quarter of their usual strength, the switch to auxiliary power now in effect.

“Should we signal for help?”  Tina poised to press the alarm button.

    “No, not yet.”

Something in her tone caught Tina’s attention.  She could almost feel Bette’s sudden awareness of the moment.  She felt it. Even in the dim light she saw the final struggle play across the brunette’s face.  There was no place to run they were alone.  There would be no more hiding anything.

“Maybe you should sit down.”  Tina encouraged sliding down against the wall.  “We might be here awhile.”

    1. argh, you tease so well! please tell me we won’t have to wait as long as the actual airing of 509 to see how your elevator scene plays out? pretty please?! ;D

    2. I hope that you will continue this. I’d love to read your interpretation of the up coming Ep 509. I am so into B & T again and your writing is making me so happy. Thxs.

    3. Please forgive my gaf, twice, I thought you had already posted the elevator scene but it was Ms. Jobadge. So sorry and I did not mean to post it twice, why can’t I erase those things when I make an ass of myself. Again, sorry.

    4. Hey Kelika, Another fine chapter but things are moving way too slow. I love that Bette and Tina are both trying the work out what the hell is going on between them. I think that Bette knows in her heart that Tina is the one for her but is questioning whether Tina thinks this is just an affair. I guess Bette wants Dan to reassure that Tina’s intentions are true. Just can’t wait until you continue this most excellent tale. Many thanks from Your Loyal Fan.

    5. Ah, c’mon, that is just not fair. I wanted to see where you were going to take us with the elevator scene. I like that Tina has Bette’s fear pegged, now I hope she is ready to talk about it.
