You Are The Light That Makes My Darkness Disappear – Chapter One

    Chapter 1

    “Spencer are you ready?”

Spencer put the last of her luggage into her suit case and made her way down the somewhat endless stair case to the foyer of her soon to be old house. She looked over at the banister where she had broken her leg from attempting to slide down. She finally reached the bottom step and stood there basking in the memory of her first kiss. There were so many memories in this house, how was she supposed to leave it behind. Oh yah that’s right she thought to herself Mom got a new job in L.A. Spencer pulled her suit case to the front door and stood up next to her mother.

    “Yes mother I am.”

She smiled innocently at her mother and stuck out her tongue. She looked back at the house again and smiled, but soon felt a tear fall down her cheek. She felt a tap on her butt.

“Baby this move will be good for us. We’ll make new memories.”

Spencer turned to her mother and smiled.

“Mom I know; I’m happy and excited about this new adventure, but I’m sad about leaving everything behind. These are our last memories of Daddy, and being a normal family.”

“Spence, we will always be a normal family. Just because your father and I aren’t together anymore doesn’t mean that he and I don’t love each other. We do, but we aren’t in love anymore.”

Spencer dropped her and looked at her mother sarcastically and daring. She let her long blonde hair fall over her shoulders. Her bangs her held up in a pouf on top of her head. Her sunglasses sat above the pouf. She played with the dog tags around her neck that were her fathers.

“You were never in love with Daddy.”

    “Yes I was.”

“No you weren’t. I could see it in your eyes that you weren’t. I’m not doubting that you weren’t in love once, I know you were, but not with Daddy.”

Her mother ruffled the back of her hair, smiled, and kissed her on the forehead.

“Spencer, another story for another time.”

Spencer smiled and grabbed her bags and made her way out to the cab with her mother. The trip from New York to Los Angeles was going to be one hell of a draining experience, but she’d do anything for her mother including moving from her home to Los Angeles so that her mother could continue to follow her dreams of becoming an even bigger movie executive.
