You break it, you replace it – Chapter 2

“You’re pathetic” Tina’s voice was full of distain “You can’t even look me in the eye” With this Bette broke in to sobs

“Because I did this to you” Bette cried out, struggling to fill her lungs as her body was racked with grief “The light in your eyes has gone, it’s as if someone reached in and ripped out your heart, leaving only this cold and empty shell. God it kills me…” She took another ragged breath, almost unable to bring herself to finish the sentence “…because it was me, I was the one, I am to blame for this.”

The silence was only broken by the sound of Bette’s feeble sobs. Tina was watching Bette sink before her and had no intention of coming to her rescue.

    “Yes…you are” She whispered

Taking a deep breath as the tears finally abated Bette finally began to steady her emotions.

“Tina, I wish with all of my heart that I could take back my actions. It sickens me to think about what I have…all the pain I’ve caused you. One day I hope that you’ll be able to look past the hate and remember the love that we share. I came here today to fight for our relationship, I came here to convince you that we need to be together and that our love is strong enough to get through this. Now that I’m here I don’t know what to think, the woman that I love wouldn’t take pleasure in watching me suffer when she hold’s the key to my redemption – I don’t recognize you”

“Why should I make this easy on you Bette?” Tina questioned in the same measured tone “Give me one reason why I should save you from this ***** of your own creation?”

Although her mind raced for a response Bette drew only feeble clichés and knew that they would never suffice.

“There isn’t one is there” Tina sounded almost triumphant, knowing that she had prevailed over Bette “While I was mourning the loss of our child you were out there ***** Candace Jewell. What were you thinking Bette? How could you do that to me?”

“I never wanted to hurt you, T” The reply is simple, honest “Please tell me how to fix this, I’ll do whatever it takes.”
